What size is the internal diameter of the radiator hose?

Brilliant!! 1.5 inches = 38.1mm, which is what I thought it was! Thanks for that!

What size is the internal diameter of the radiator hose?

Hi All! Could anyone tell me what size the hose is that goes to the radiator on a series III 109"? The larger ones that take the main flow out of the bottom of the radiator to the water pump, and back into the top of the rad. The internal diameter would be ideal. I gave Paddocks a call and...

What to look for in a series 3 project

That sounds like the same situation I was in when I bought mine, although I wanted a LWB, either a 109 or a 110. Landrovers are like automotive meccano kits! You can plug and play with most of the series stuff, and most of the defender stuff will fit a series too. As for how much, if you...

What to look for in a series 3 project

It also depends what project you want. Do you want a restoration project? Or do you just want to have a vehicle you can improve on? Or do you want to convert a normal landy into a trials landy?

    radiator cap

I too would be interested in knowing this. Also how would you know what cap you have? Baring in mind I have a retro fitted engine in mine, prior to me having it, and have little idea about what was in there before!

What to look for in a series 3 project

to be honest I'm fairly new to landrovers myself, but I reckon you could get quite a good start on a grand. I would expect tax and test for that, but would require a thing or two to makee it a good reliable runabout. And then you'll have the joys of the improvements you could make, and once you...

    Radiator overflow linked to carbs?

Thanks for that! I thing the guy who did the conversion didn't realy understand and saw another conversion that had the pipe soldered in, and when he got home just put it onto "A" pipe that was in the top of the rad!

    Radiator overflow linked to carbs?

Absolutley!! Bang on! So now I just need to get myself a blow gun and get soldering! At least I have the old knackered rad to practice on! I've never soldered anything bigger than a wire before... first time for everything!

    series 3 what oils?

How much do you lot pay for oil?? I just got stung £50 for 2 gallons of shell "for high milage vehicles" stuff! (last time I send the other half to buy oil for me!)

    Radiator overflow linked to carbs?

It looks like you're right! I've been chatting to a Rover V8 enthusiast, and he reckons that it's to keep the carbs at a level temperature to the rest of the engine. As groenendael said, there should be a pipe brazed/soldered in the top of the rad to allow the return for the water to allow it...

    Radiator overflow linked to carbs?

I just found this on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Land-Rover-Safari-109_W0QQitemZ180261952456QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item180261952456&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318 If you look at the picture of the engine, you can just about make out the pipe I'm on about, although the pipe goes to an inline coupler on...

    Radiator overflow linked to carbs?

I must admit I thought it should either do as you said, or go into the expansion tank, but there was definatley a hose that came from the block of metal that the two SU's sit on, as I didn't disconnect the carb end. It seems the perfect length to reach the old rad safety-release-valve, and the...

    Radiator overflow linked to carbs?

I have just replaced the rad in my sIII, which has a retrofitted 3.5V8 with a LPG conversion. When I took the old rad out, I didn't really think that much about why pipes went from here to there, only where they went. Now I'm putting them back, I'm starting to wonder why there is a pipe that...

    radiator

I just got a second hand one from landroverspares.co.uk for £50 + £8 p&p +VAT. If you are anywhere near Luton theres Oaktree Garage who happens to be a Landy Scrappy, he had one for £35 last week. Needed a little soldering on the casing, but it didn't leak.

How do you Identify a Radiator

Apparently the only difference is the top hose position on the 6cylinr is on the top right (looking from the engine), and the 4 cylinder is in the middle. Also they make all the rads 4 core now, so you don't have the choice between the two unless you buy old stock and particularly want the less...

    V8 Lpg?

I have a sIII with a 3.5 lump retro-fitted, with LPG. I think you'd have to get it fitted professionally if you want to drive it on the road as insurance companies want the certificate that it's been done properly. As for how they run, I have had no problems with mine, but I have never...
