    Honda Hippoo?

Back during Rover 800 production they fitted a Honda 2.7 V6 lump mated to a manual box. (Father had one and it was sooooo quick!!) If this engine was available as an automatic option (99% sure it was) then this could be a possibile contender.... My guess would be that it can't be far off the...

    Fitting Spotlamp Pod Kit

There was some cutting required on the older type bumper. This is to allow the lamps and their connectors to recess into the bumper. I cheated and used a permanent marker to mark out the edges using the spotlight surrounds / mounts as a template before drilling out the plastic bumper. I used a...

    Fitting Spotlamp Pod Kit

Can't comment on later models, but the early type pods are quite straightforward to fit. They simply screw onto the bumpers and the wiring clips / plugs in place. Have a look at the instructions - they are easy to follow and show the tools needed to complete the job. Regards, Steve

BFG AT 10K Tire Swap, how?

Land Rover advise that you only ever have the newest tyres on the rear axle. I have always changed a set of four and then worn the fronts down until replacement is required. I then buy a new pair for the rear and put the half worn rear tyres to the front axle. This keeps the transmission...

    parking sensors and tow bar

My parking sensors are ok with the standard fixed towbar setup. I even have about 3" of spacer plates and a cycle carrier mounting attached and does not cause any problems (apart from bashing shins when loading the shopping!!) Regards, Steve

    Freelander brake disc life

All depends on the driving style. I have covered 26,000 on my pads. They were by no means new when i bought the vehicle, but as I hardly need to touch the brakes on my daily commute they seem to be lasting a long time. I have at least 5mm left on the front pads, so may get another 8 - 10,000...

    Six Year Old Battery

Not a 'green oval' vehicle, but had a OE Motaquip battery on a relatives Talbot Horizon that lasted 10 years. Was garaged and only covered 50,000 in that time. The OE LR ones seem to last very well. They used Delphi, Lucas/Yuasa and Varta - in fact I have a L322 (110Ah) Varta one in my...

    propshaft bearings

Try jacking the vehicle up and rotating the wheels - sounds like a wheel bearing. Mine had no side to side movement, but groaned when rotated. Regards, Steve

    Advice please,replacing tyres.

Freelander 2 wheels don't fit freelander 1's My Michelin Synchrones also exhibit a little cracking marks at the edges - have passed the MOT fine. Leave them fitted, they are a much better tyre than the cheapo 225/55/17 you mention.

How can I view archive posts??

Thanks for that helpful advice matey. It works fine on my works PC, but not on my home machine. Guess I'll have to do more LZ viewing during works time!!

How can I view archive posts??

Whenever there is a question posted, the mods tend to inform us to use the search function. I remember reading a post about freelander clock fixing. A colleague at work has a poor display and I would like to attempt a fix. Can anyone tell me where to find the post below...

    Rattle Underneath

Can this be done on a petrol version?? Would it be too noisy?? I have a stainless system off a Rover 220 which is almost identical to the front section when rotated through 180 degrees. - Even the cat flange is the same. The only headache is the backbox which could be simplified by a straigh...

    Rattle Underneath

You could have a 'loose baffle' caused by wear and tear. Exhaust backbox is not that pricey - plenty on ebay for about £27.

    Location of reverse light switch?

Lee - its on the top of your gearbox and has two wires (green and black IIRC) - a large spanner will undo the unit, however you can unplug the bullet type connectors, join together and test the lights work before buying a new switch. Regards, Steve

    Freelander engine code?

    100% correct - my old 220 had a 20T4 prefix.

101 Uses for Cable Ties, no. 79, attaching slave cylinder to bell housing

Amazing - I did the same last year!! My mounting bracket also broke, so I repaired using an old trailer electric mounting bracket - cut down and riveted to the existing bracket. A cable tie replaced the lost plastic clip and away we went again. I replaced the bracket, but the cable tie is...

    Newbie & AT Tires

You have a limited tyre option like me: 17" Pirelli Scorpians - quite good off road when new. 17" Michelin Synchrones - surprisingly good despite road tread pattern 17" Colway A/T - sadly now longer in production, but a copy of the BF Goodrich AT and excellent at £49 each. Thats about...
