    Another problem with my engine

No offence Yella but i'm not too sure about this as the last 4 full tanks of diesal I've used have also been accompanied with Reddex diesal addative. If there is **** in the tank how do I clean it out?

    Another problem with my engine

The damage only(?) consisted of some scratches about 1mm deep so I wouldn't have thought so, anyway I have been driving for just under 200 miles since work done before the kangarooing started.

    Another problem with my engine

I had to replace to pump because it was leaking diesal into the engine bay quite badly. To be honest I knew it would need replacing when I bought Disco and should really have taken it as a sign of what was to come not as a minor inconvenience that should have been easy to sort. <sigh>

    Another problem with my engine

Yes, its a 1994 Discovery 300 Tdi and yes it has been quite expensive, £1500 for Landie and so far £1000 for repairs after only 7 months of ownership! After all of this work being done I was kinda hoping that nothing else was left to go wrong. :(

    200/300 interior?

Can somebody hurry up and make the use of correct English law and make text speak and other examples of poor grammer illegal!!!!!

    Another problem with my engine

Today whilst driving to and from work at several random times my engine would seemingly missfire for between 30 seconds and a minute. This caused my speed to drop sharply from between 50 mand 60 to 30 which it would stay at as my Disco skipped along. What on earth could be wrong? I have recently...

Internittent start, no power and lots of blue/black smoke

At the end of November I had to have Diesal pump changed and the timing belt was changed then. When I drove the Disco home after having the 'rear propshaft rubber coupling replaced as split and out of shape' I was initially a bit concerned as reason it was done was due to vibration felt through...

If you are buying privatly take someone along who knows a thing or six about engines/Landies in general to have a look at it. I didn't and six months after buying an M reg Disco for £1500 I've had to replace fuel pump, £250, major work on pistons, £650 and replace propshaft rubber coupling...

Why is my heater now working?

Cheers Ratty, I now feel a bit of a numpty for not realising the most obvious reason! :p

Why is my heater now working?

Last week I had the following work done on my '94 300Tdi Disco, Engine oil Oil filter Antifreeze Head skim Head gasket Head bolt x4 Injector seal x4 Valve cover gasket Intake gasket Water pump Pump gasket About a month ago the heater in my Disco stopped blowing any hot air even...

Internittent start, no power and lots of blue/black smoke

It's all fixed now! Description of work copied from receipt; Investigate lack of power. 318.75 Removed cylinder head, headgasket blown between middle cylinders. Stripped head and sent for skimming. Rebuilt cylinder head and refitted...

Internittent start, no power and lots of blue/black smoke

ooh, don't tempt me! I did think it was all a bit too good to be true, half decent Landy, off road prepped from an obvious Landy freak (3 in his drive) for 1500 notes but now it has all become painfully clear!

Internittent start, no power and lots of blue/black smoke

I asked how much a replacement unit would cost and was told they did one a couple of months ago, a 300Tdi at £1200-£1400. Bearing in mind I paid £1500 for disco I didn't really see that as cost effective! They also mentioned flea bay but warned engine you buy could be in exactly the same state...

Internittent start, no power and lots of blue/black smoke

:( I went to look at my injun earlier and it didn't look good! The main engine bulkhead has been quite badly scorched between the 2nd and 3rd piston cylinders. The garage said 'simon' will be in to look at engine and to determine exactly what needs to be done and from that they will know how...

Internittent start, no power and lots of blue/black smoke

My only problem now is persuading the Misses the either a) keep this Disco now problems have been sorted or b) sell it to buy another Disco. Both will be bloomin hard work either way! :(

    Oi Tossers whens salisbury??

Unfortunatly, as yet, I can't give a definate yay or nay as to what dates I can join in my first proppa green lane outing but you can count me and 'Dave' as a probable possible.

Internittent start, no power and lots of blue/black smoke

Garage man told me he'd removed the head of the engine (not piston) to look at the cause of the noise and lots of vibrations when my engine was running. It happened rather suddenly when the engine was aounding like an unwell traction engine, it stalled when I started reversing up my drive and...

Internittent start, no power and lots of blue/black smoke

My bold, this is what is wrong with mine. Man in garage said (at least) one piston head is slightly mishapen but will only know for sure one he's gotten into engine properly tomorrow. re overheating in the past, I noticed a couple of weeks ago the engine temp seemed very hot but since then it...
