    what is my car worth

Stick it on the evil bay, the polish are buying them up. I would guess at £1500 for a quick private sale. The £800 trade in is about right, not only do garages want to make money on the car they sell, they also want to make money on the car they buy in.......

    Cleaning oil from cooling system?

Or dissolved dishwasher powder or automatic washing machine powder. You can buy some commercially available cooling system cleaners, but dishwasher stuff works just as well. Don't try putting a tablet in!!! I know someone who has:p

2004 Freelander Upgrade, this is how its done

Bumper armature needs extending 50mm, i made some brackets out of angle. You also need to cut about 60mm off each end of the armature.

    IRD reconditioned

Bearing load is quite important especially on taper roller bearings. Too loose or tight and they will destroy themselves quickly. Roller ball bearings are even more critical, any axial load will rapidly wear the bearing. Not that i've repaired an IRD yet, but i've repaired PLENTY of diffs/...

insruments - will this work ??

The only problem i can see is that the rev counter is too high a range, not really a biggie.... oh and your temp/fuel gauge is back to front. Where is the mileage stored?? internally or in the vehicle ecu??

    Master Cylinder Replacing

What model is this?? I replaced mine last month 2.0 xDi and it's an unserviceable master and slave cylinder in a combined unit...... Take the clip off the pedal and rotate the Master Cylinder to remove, then **** around to get all the pipework in place.

Is 2h30 of Time & Labour justified for adjusting the timing on my Freelander 2.0L?

From the sounds of it you paid for the work done and are now happy with the vehicles performance?? Can't see the problem here, if you had an issue you should have stated this at the point of sale....... Sorry for being blunt but you took the car in to have a specific fault rectified, they have...

    Battery Charger Light On

Or loose / missing belt??? Check the battery with a meter with the engine running you should have at least 13.5 volts if it is charging correctly.

    vcu

Jack one rear wheel off the ground, handbrake off and chock front wheels, try and turn the rear wheel, it should turn but with resistance. An 18 inch bar on a wheel nut should turn the VCU indicating that the torque required to turn the wheel isn't as much as to tighten the wheel nut. Bear in...

    Freelander headlight upgrade facelift

Guys i've just finished my facelift conversion.... I had to make some 50mm spacers to bring the aluminium bumper armature out so that i could secure the bumper to it. After reading all the threads here about the facelift i can't see one that mentioned this?? Are you fitting the later bumper...

    window repair kits which one..

I've used the glue repair kits with success, and have seen the ones from Turkey.... Now if the Turkish kits are made correctly to the correct lengths, they seem a far better option as they supply the centre cable reel also. These window regs are real easy to take apart and repair once you've...

2.0 D Engine won't start after having it taken out

Sorry but yes, the cam timing could move which can throw the f/pump timing. Only has to be a smll amount 1/2 a tooth can cause a non start.

    "Mondo" mode rattle.

I had the same clicking noise on acceleration, followed 30 miles later by banging underneath the vehicle. Turned out the final drive output spline had gone in the gearbox ( the one that sends the drive to the front right wheel through the IRD). Couldn't mondo it as i only had rear wheel drive...

    IRD Failure

No doubt you've done internal damage to the driveline. Drain the Gbox oil and the ird see if you have any excessive metal in either first. My guess is you probably damaged the gbox not the IRD.

    Prop probs!

The front propshaft connects to the IRD. The gaiter is there to protect the sliding joint. Is it possible that this is a little excess grease that has just oozed out on reassembly. Any leaks in this area would be from the IRD itself which is gear oil, quite distinctive in smell. The oil from the...
