your right, TD4 has chain driven cams

first thing to do is check your tyre pressures

sounds very much like a cam position sensor fault. do a search. bet thats your problem. Dylan

its normal for the freelander to do what you are describing.

It sounds like your front drive shaft/s. does it get worse the faster you go?

I'd recheck the front driveshafts/inner CV joints. sounds like what I and quite a few others have had.

having the same problem. on mine I have traced it back to the fuel pump in the engine bay. try turning the ignition on and listening to hear the fuel pumps run. one in thee tank and the other under the bonnet LHS of car. (RHS as you look at engine). pump in fuel tank tends to show its weakness...
