The Freelander has developed, quite suddenly, a strange noise. Driving back from Leeds to home, about 17 miles, a I eased off the power it started to make a grinding noise. Foot back on the power and it stopped. Managed to get it home and am awaiting a break in the weather to have a look...

The one in the tank ? Did mine about 6 month ago and it came undone with a little tap and a big screwdriver. Be careful when refitting the seal, mine dropped in slightly. Diesel all over garage forecourt ��

I have tested the new VCU and all seems to be working nicely.

Fitted a re-con VCU from Bell engineering, looking for some spotlight brackets too

As it started in 2006 and no one has posted since 2010.... Thought I would mention that I drove down this short Byway last night, the gate is there but it is not locked. It is a bit narrow as no one has been down there for a while. I did video it and will post it if I can.

Well, injector number 3 replaced and all is well. Was quite an easy job really. Bought a refurb injector from Feather diesel, Elland . Great service and they are open from 6 in thr morning so popped in on the way to work.

Interesting, although mine will not start. Did the leak back whilst cranking. 1 had plenty but the others had nowt.

Did a leak back test and found one leaking... Any recomendations for injector refurb?

After reading so many horror stories of injector removal, is there any other solution for a leaky injector on a TD4?

When I was cranking it during the leak off test I had trouble blanking off the return pipe, seemed to be good pressure in the system.

After a leak off test it appears I have 1 leaky injector. Could only do it whilst cranking, got nowt from 3 but about 50ml out of 1. Will try the easy start before I take the injector out, try and get it nice and warm. Thanks for the advice.

Not tried the easy start yet, have got the inlet manifold off giving it a clean, is really filthy. Will give it a go tomorrow. Is there any way to test the cam sensor?

Have changed the fuel filter, what I cant understand is how well it runs when it does start.

Category B You can drive vehicles up to 3,500kg Maximum Authorised Mass (MAM) with up to 8 passenger seats (with a trailer up to 750kg). Minibuses Category D1 You can drive vehicles with: no more than 16 passenger seats

So, as I passed my driving test after 01/01/98, or whenever it was, I am only licensed to drive a vehicle with up to 8 seats, anyone have an idea what test I would have to take so I could drive a 12 seater? DVLA website is not clear on this.
