Engine takes ages to warm up!

It will be obvious if its running, you get smoke and a roaring sound, bite the bullet and change the sensor, they are notorious for failing. Same sensor as Rover 75 and they suffer similar problems with the fbh.

Engine takes ages to warm up!

Mine used to take half an hour before the heater blew anything like warm, changed the sensor, now only 10 mins before blowing hot. If you don't want to spend £20 on a sensor just extend the wires and put a switch on it then you can control it manually.

Engine takes ages to warm up!

The sensor is JWL000020 I did it on mine but you have to remove the front bumper. I managed just to release just the offside and pull it forward enough to get my hand in and replace the sensor.

Anyone having to pre-heat their 300tdi *three* times each morning??

Mine behaves exactly as you describe, three preheats and it starts instantly, its a 1997 auto, and therefore has edc, wonder if this is common senario with edc. Oh new bateery, starter and glow plugs, all earths fine etc.

    crank pulley bolt

use a socket and strong arm on the bolt. Pull the wire from the stop solenoid to prevent the engine from starting, wedge the strongarm against the chassis and activate the starter briefly.

    Dodgey vin ?

Don't know about Land Rover but Rover cars up until Leyland take over used to change the Model in August. My 1939 Rover 10 was made in November 1938. Rover changed the tooling and production line in August during the factory fortnight holiday.

    Autobox not changing

Hi With my auto you have to press the pedal quite hard at about a couple of inches from end of travel and it then clicks over. The thing to remember with the kick down cable is that it is really incorrectly named. It not only handles kick down but also it is how the box senses throttle...

    Yet another split charge one......

I have always used 40A relays triggered by the ignition warning light terminal on the alternator which ensures that the engine is running before the split charge/fridge relays kick in.

    Disco front tow bar

I just bolted a ball to the front of my Series 1 bumper, but is a disco bumper up to it? Plus the front face is not vertical. I'll measure up today and see if I can fabricate something.

    Disco front tow bar

Hi I have a 1997 300Tdi auto and I would like to fit a front tow/push bar so I can make manouvering my 4 wheel trailer with stationary engine much easier. Has anyone got details so I can manufacture one? Or indeed one for sale. Thanks Tony.

    300tdi cruise

OK I was stupid! The thing with the pipe disconnected was the egr solenoid, replaced the small pipe on the connector, now going in search of the cruise vac pump which looking at the diagrams is below the panel that the jack sits on?

    300tdi cruise

Hi Cruise isn't working, yes I have read the threads and yes all the pipe ends needed cutting back and reconnecting. Now here is the problem: The pump located by the jack has two thin pipes connected to it, there is a connector without a pipe on it. I have 2 pipes! 1 is the thicker one that...
