My 1999 DSE has a psi power box fitted and it goes very well indeed for a big heavy car. I have got 24.9mpg over the last 2500 miles with just about all journeys being 10 miles or less. I know of unchipped DSE's only getting the same mpg on a run where's mine has done 38mpg on a 300mile motorway...

My DSE makes a little rattle when accelerating and i found that it was the exhaust heat shield which had a corroded around one of the mounting bolts.I thought it was the exhaust banging on the suspension mounting.

I would have a diesel but with the sound of a V8, Land Rover have done that now , i only have to wait till the wife gets another 2 jobs and i am having one.

I know how to pump up the air suspension but if you know how to clear hard fault with out going to the dealer , tell us .

Most landy independents charge about £40 for a plug in, the one i use spent a hour checking out the ride height sensors and air bags for leaks before telling me the pump was U/S.They offered free advise and said when you fix your pump they would reset for me,all this for the £35 plug...

The p38 with clear indicators is one of the most best looking cars on the road i think .It stands out from other cars, but i do like the look of the L322 but i am just a couple of quid short.

The problem with series owners is they think that they are the only true landy owners , but we know there is more coil sprung owners out there than you leaf sprung purists.As for been spare part stores for series ,how are you lot going to cope with going over 40mph when you fit a tdi engine in...

I have a chipped 1999 DSE p38 and it goes like a rocket where my Discovery 200tdi is like driven a loaded lorry , but is so much fun off road. The DSE is the one i would have just for every day motoring , but for the cheapest motoring ever i would buy an old Discovery and a big tool box pluss...

It can be a bit of a mine field model codes, i have a 1999 DSE which was sold as a DHSE by the Land Rover dealer but is a DSE limted eddition and have a letter from Land Rover saying that. I know mine has the same spec as a DHSE , its listed in parkers and Glass guide as a DSE + bloody mine field.

It was on it when i bought it , it a little blue box on the N/S inner wing . I think its just like the one rimers supply (powerbox) i think.

The DSE was the top spec till 1999 when the DHSE come out which is the same spec as a HSE petrol,for every day use i think the diesel is a better bet but get one thats been chipped.I get 25mpg local and 36+mpg on a run from my 1999 chipped diesel ,the anti P38 gang will tell you not to buy one...

Hi as far as i know its the funny shaped box thing just at the bottom of the down pipe,i think its available one its own. I do hope my technical advice has been of some help.

Wow You Lot Sound Like Rocket Enginers ,i Have A Litte Blue Box On My 1999 Dse And When I Put My Foot Down From Stand Still All I Get Is Two Clouds Of Black Smoke And Fast Forward Movement.

When i got my P38 DSE the anti P38 gang all said what have you bought one of those it cost you an arm and a leg to fix, well the buggers have never floated on a cushion of air ,in a leather arm chair, at 70mph down the m62 .

A lot of air suspension problems seem to be because of the compresser wears out and in most cases its just the seal which is worn out. The more you look up about the air suspension you find out that it can be fixed on a budget and not £1000"s that the anti P38 crowd tell you when you buy...
