    vibration at low revs,

I've got a TD4 2001 with just 26.000 on the clock, and its always had a vibration point at around 1300 RPM, so much so that it rattles the gear change operating levers under the floor. If you hold the gear lever, its not so bad , but its still there, so obviously its the engine thats got a...

    VCU Propshaft bearings.

I'm thinking of replacing the propshaft bearings either side of the VCU, (getting a slight noise, more of a vibration at around seventy) suspect these bearings. Looking at the spares available TOQ000040G Hardy Spicer at £42.87+vat, or TOQ000040 All makes, at £14.36+vat. Which ones do you...

    drivers side footwell water

The passenger footwell on my 2001 TD4 was flooded ( probably from new ) as you can't see it because of the rubber backed carpet. I found it quite by accident one day, when I noticed a tiny drip at the door bottom front pillar, as I was sat waiting at lights. I lifted the carpet and it was sodden...

    Oil sump plug

On the TD4 engine the torque setting for the sump plug is 28 NM, and I would advise you to use it. The threads in the sump are alloy and its a steel plug, if you strip the threads, you will be right in the ' S--te'.

Drivetrain noise - how to find the culprit?

Block the VCU coupling up first as its quite heavy ( just done this job ). Make sure you disconnect the six bolts on the front prop shaft at the IRD unit first, then the rear prop four bolts, finally the VCU four bolts, and lower it down. If the VCU unit is dropped without disconnecting the...

    Saying Hello

Hi All Just to say hello, I have a 2001 TD4 Freelander GS, Oslo blue. Have been reading lots of posts about the Freelander on here, and am impressed by the knowledge and help available. It seems that we Freelander owners need it, but touch wood. Cheers.
