Not sure, but i changed the thermostate on mine to a remote thermostate setup and put the blanking plate and seal in the oridginal. It really was not as expensive as you might think and is a must on all 1.8. Do a search on the remote thermostate on this site. been covered a million times.

Bonnet release cable wont release me bonnet!

I have never had this happen yet, but if it did this is what i would do. Firstly check the tension at the release handle on the cable. If it is lose then your cable has snaped. IF not pull it and get a second person to try and lift the bonnet. Failing this then take the front bumper off. There...

    Another Leak!

Could also be a blocked pipe from where the wiper mechanism is. I noticed on mine that the black spongy stuff in the 2 air inlet at the bottom of the windscreen (Plastic cover plate for wipers) had brocken up. I took the whole thing off, removed them and replaced with some stainless steel mesh...

    Interior Trim ( Tailgate )

I think that there are only screws at the bottom. Then its a question of just pulling and the plastic plugs should pop free. When taking the plastic sheet off, use a hairedryer to sofen the glue to avoid ripping it. Whilst your there check that the two wires into the tailgate window for the...

    IRD Oil Level plug

I dont understand why you are making a hole in the new plug? If you are drilling out the old one, there is a trick to minimize the loose chippings falling into the IRD. Place some multi purpose grease on the drill bit. This will help the chippings to stick to the drill bit and avoid falling into...

    IRD Oil Level plug

Well at least thats good news and hopefully a cheap solution. I did notice when i undid mine that there was a vacume in the IRD that as soon as i undid the nut a hissing sound was heard as air was sucked into the IRD. NOt sure if this is normal! However back to your issue. I would stay away from...

    IRD Oil Level plug

Ok, so it hasent gone as planed. When using a wrench its important that the socket is squarley seated. However danmage done, lets move on. I would not cut the lips away. As you will be changing the nut anyway, go down to your local garage and see if they could weld a second nut on to it. Then...

TD4 sump guard solid nut removal

If you think that taking off the bumper will help, then take it off. Its a 15 minute job- 14 Screws and 2 bolts. One thing i did notice is if you take it off, check that your 4 bolts holding on your fan to the radiator are not seized and then put a bit of grease on them - in case you ever need...

    Bloody central locking!!!!!!!!!

I would try the following. Check the fuses then Place the key in the ignition with the fob attached and turn the key to II. This should reset the system. Failing that i would then disconnect the battry for 10 minutes and then reconnect and try the above again. Failing that, i would say its...

Hi, last weekend i was changing the timing belt on my 98 1.8 Freelander with automatic adjuster pully, and i came up against a problem. Rear Diff Mountings

I wonder if anyone has ever had a go at replacing the rear diff mountings. I have a 1998 1.8 freelander, and as far as i can see there are two rear mountings and one front one. I want to replace them in the hope that it will cure some of the vibrations. LR told me that the front one tends to go...
