At a guess, is this relay worth saving?

I enjoyed rebuilding mine. It wasn't as far gone as your one but I did like being able to do one of those jobs that most people say you would be stupid to tackle. I made a tool to compress the spring back in and even then it was squeaky bum time because it can be dangerous. In case it helps...

    Series III replacement rear door

Just thought if the hinges haven't been off before you will probably need some of the captive nut thingies that go in the door pillar and some new screws with the big countersunk head that you can see in the hinges. There are two types of screw I think, one longer that the other. Loads of grease...

    Series III replacement rear door

There's a lot of jiggle room in the hinges. I get very anxious about trying to get gaps and alignment perfect but you can't. Don't drive yourself bonkers like I do. Jiggle it, shim it, twist it and get it to a point where you can live with it. Then if one of the rivet counters comes along and...

    Series III replacement rear door

Give it a try. You might be the chosen one. If it does work go straight out and buy a lottery ticket because you are on fire baby!

    Anti seize/copper grease and nylocs

Britpart have a good safety system for their spring washers. I've had several of theirs that went on brand new, had to be taken back off shortly after and they cracked and fell to pieces. No ambiguity there.

    Footwell repair panels

That's a surprise, they are normally very good.

Or the Welding Wood on Facebook or YRM metal solutions.

    Footwell repair panels

I bought really cheap repair panels when I was sorting my series 3 bulkhead. Never again. Get the best ones, not the cheap ones. That way they might get close to fitting. I'm still having problems now with reassembling and because they are in and painted it's a nightmare.

    Anti seize/copper grease and nylocs

I'll tell you how mean I am. I think it's the 5/16 nylocs from Paddocks used to cost 5p each and I would get really mardy if wasted one. It would ruin my day! ;)

    Anti seize/copper grease and nylocs

So here's one of those questions that I probably ought to know the answer to already. But I don't. Do you use copper grease or similar with nyloc nuts? I want fastenings protected but does it reduce the grip of the nyloc?

The Little Discovery That Could (financially ruin me)

Sad news. Could it just be stored for now? Pick up again later? It's hard though. The times i've had to pause mine due to lack of time, money or both. You have done a bloody lovely job of it though.

    Defender nut and bolt rebuild

Have you seen this chap. Sounds similar to what you've just described.

    Series three rear oil seal

Sounds like that price came from a Land Rover 'Specialist'. That probably adds £800 to the bill straight away. I've just realised you're in Spalding. We used to live in Little London before moving to Lincoln. I'm way out of touch with the area now. I'll bet if you try that local garage of yours...

    Series three rear oil seal

Just seen this from a thread from earlier this year. Looks like it's on a 90 not series but similar I suppose. "I've spoken to a local garage that deals pretty much exclusively with Land Rovers. For the new seal to be fitted and a new clutch (may as well get it done while the engine or gearbox...

    radiator panel sizing

I tend to get very OCD and hung up on things. I'll bet with just a few mm out you won't notice when you put it all back together. If I remember correctly that panel sits on rubber spacers on the crossmember doesn't it? The missing mm's could maybe be made up there. I'm beginning to accept that...

    radiator panel sizing

I'm getting deja vu here as someone else was asking about this the other day. Is it too late to put the pieces back together in something like this. That's what I did and it kept me all lined up.

    repairing radiator panel

Oh and I got the repair panel from Tony at The Welding Wood and sent back the Britpart one as it was bloody awful.

    repairing radiator panel

Don't know if this would be of interest. I made this high tech gadget to hold everything in the right place. It meant the repaired panel must end up the same shape in the end. Probably total overkill but that's the way I roll baby!

Sometimes you just have to get the job done. Frustrating though. When I win the lottery i'll set up the Landyzone communal workshop where we can all just do our projects. I'll provide all the tools, spares and materials. Anyone have any lucky numbers?
