    p38 whining ?

Cos the VCU locks/ Nope - the VCU and centre diff combination was also used on the RR Classic - the diff proportions the drive, the VCU locks the props under shear force. A VCU unit without a diff = part time 4wd. With a diff full time 4WD. Complete sh1te. Your talking L322 Range Rover which...

    p38 whining ?

You are a pair of bullsh1tting feckwits. There is a diff in the transfer box and a as well VCU. Part number STC3239. How else does the drive get propotioned 50;50 front rear? A VCU only reacts to slip - like the old VW Synchro system, making it a part time 4WD system. RR P38 is permanent...

Good advice on tuning my V8?

The pistons determine the CR of the V8 - only a small increase can be made by skimming. A decoke goes a long way to rejuvenating a V8; new torquey cam and lifters, ground in valves, and SUs in good nick.

    Looking at a 1985 V8 90, what to expect

The original state of tune looks pretty rubbish - but it's mainly down to the camshaft profile. A couple of yrs later the tune was 130hp with just a cam change. Chances are a 1985 V8 is not on its original cam. But the hp is not relevant - the lashings of lovely torque in a V8 Ninety is...

1k is a good price for a minter, terrible for a Land Owner stylee rotbox. Fill yer boots with this lot o fold ramblings... http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/230599-post7.html At best it will be worn and need work to all the bits that haven't had routine maintenance over the years. At worst it...

    Green laning legalities.

Oh look another exhumed thread. Sounds about right though - there's some inverted snobbery than goes on out there. Factory std vehicles are capable on green lanes, no need for stilts, scaffolding, tractor tyres, chimneys and orange paint jobs.

Front propshaft - which way round?

When the uj is dead straight the velocity is constant. As soon as it is at an angle it accelerates and decelerates - forget the web, take a prop off and try it. Can't explain why meself.

Front propshaft - which way round?

The 90 propshaft is the same length as the Disco 1 though. In a nutshell - a UJ does not deliver constant velocity. It slows down and speeds up as it rotates. If the two UJs are in the same plane they automatically cancel out this speeding up and slowing down - producing constant velocity...

Yeh but no. The sensors/loom for the Thor and Gems engines are different. Dunno about gearboxes, but its the lectronic one...so different from a disco 1 RR Classic one.

Pushrods - 1960 design:) Change the oils. Use a semi synth 10-40 in the engine every 6 months. Halfords green pack should do the job. Change the diff oils and transfer box too (EP80/90 gear oil).
