    Series 3 Rear Tub?

Hi all. Anyone got a rear tub for a Series 88 that they would be selling? I am in Cornwall but can collect anywhere-ish(!).

    24 Spline?

    Absolutely true of course.

    24 Spline?

Hi, my Series 3 88" is listed as July 1981; 1981 manufacture. Just about to go in for chassis swap and some work on front transmission (fwh) as it won't engage 4wd. Can I assume that it has 24 spline half shafts? If not, is there a visual check to do, short of withdrawing the shaft? Forgive the...

Ah. Thanks for the info. I'm an S3 owner ... shame for me, but I'll look see how much subs are.

    LRSOC Falmouth

Anyone have any details about the National Rally 2020? It is at Falmouth, apparently this year, and it is fairly rare for stuff like this to be within easy reach; I'd love to go. 27-28th June is all I have.

    Driving off-road

I like the thought of a hand throttle for this reason. Set it just above tickover, to avoid the stall - mine is the 2 1/4 petrol - I would have thought a big old lump like this could summon up a sufficiency of torque. This is probably related to my tractor days where a hand throttle was a...

    Driving off-road

As a newbie to the 4x4 experience, except tractors and dumpers, I was wondering if I could tap into the experience on this forum, around how best to drive my S3 swb over different surfaces. For example; Snow, mud, sand - is the sop to deflate tyres down to 15 or there abouts? I'm fitting...

    Series 3 Chassis replacement

After a quick bit of to and fro, I've bought a chassis from Tamar 4x4, for what I wanted to pay, ex-works. In stick, so I'll just pick it up this week. It's a Richards, so swapping should be straightforward.

    Detachable tow/recovery arrangements.

That's really clear, thanks. You got a side job, towing houses? :D

    That's really clear, thanks.

    Recovery Eye fitting

Thanks. I think if it gets stuck that bad that your set up wouldn't be strong enough, I'd be in plenty of trouble already! Main use is going to be around shunting trailers and hauling out other kit that's stuck in the mud/snow. Nothing too challenging, hopefully.

    Detachable tow/recovery arrangements.

Thanks for that. Not intending trialling, but if that's what they want, then it is prob strongest option, so good info.

    Recovery Eye fitting

Fair point. Think I'll drill bumper for the 2 fwd holes and back bolts with a spreader plate. Main stress in towing will be the rear 2 holes trying to tear out of the chassis, so I'll be happy with that set up.

    Detachable tow/recovery arrangements.

Thanks for that. They are the d rings I have to fit. Looks like I shall be drilling a couple holes in the bumper and backing up with a stiffener plate, rather than drilling the chassis dumb irons.

    Detachable tow/recovery arrangements.

Thanks. You got a pic of yours in situ? I did have a thought, as the adjustable one is fitted, to get a spare face plate and put a Nato on one and tow ball on the other. Swapping would then be taking out 2 pins.

    Recovery Eye fitting

Ta. I would want all 4 bolts through the chassis, I think. But that may be me being too belts and braces. I'll keep my eye open for as many pics of installation as I can.
