2.5td box and t/b, shall I scrap them??

I put my last transfer box in the bottom of the wheely bin, which then got hooked onto the back of the trash cart, and by the time the bin men realised what the very loud bang was it was over the top and too late :) Somebody else down the road put a VW Beatle engine into his, and that went as...

    Clutch resevoir cover

Don't worry already have (mainly to stop if flying out on bends/speed bumps) - mind you it has been underwater a couple of times in the past and the seal on the old one was not very good so i suspect the fluid has some in it anyway!

    Exhaust Bracket Question

Did it hit the ground / any other moving object when it cme off that may have bent the down pipe? Picture is a little bit too close in, but I cant see any mounting there - the exaust will not bolt directly to the body as this will cause damage the moment the engine moves on its mountings!

    rear wiper switch

    Clutch resevoir cover

Just wondering if anybody has a spare cover for a 86TD clutch fluid resevior, as mine seems to have come off and gone - Dont realy want to fit a new cylinder if i can help it as it has a netal tank and the new ones seem to be plastic - so you can see the level of fluid i'm told

    Ex Owners Bodges

Since purchasing the landy the screen washers have never worked properly, and i have always had to convince the MOT tester that they work (last year i checked some water on the screen while he was at the other end of the garage getting a light, and then when he came back told him i had fixed it...

    notify the DVLA?

BUT check what BODY TYPE (Box D3 on the V5) is.

    notify the DVLA?

The data the DVLA have on it depends on what year it was registered. As time went on like big brothers do, they want more and more data. Its not going to be a major problem to update the data with the DVLA, but if the boxes are blank on the V5 then who will ever know?

Offered used TDi..is this good value ?

Rear seats - £35 if you want the bench style brit part ones - very easy to fit - 1/2 per side. Windows will take more time, effort, and skill - mine were bodged by the previous owner, who cut the hole too big! - Usualy best to get a set of side panels with the windows in and swap them over...

    Is it Bad News???

Master cylinder failure does not always cause fluid to run down the pedal - it depends what has failed - if it is just the piston seal then the fluid will just bypass the piston (like a snaped piston ring on an engine). If your loosing fluid then its going to be the slave If the fluid is...

no power to starter i think

red+white should triger the solonoid. Sounds like no power to triger it to me. Try putting some power direct onto the one that goes into the cab. Also check the other one is making a good earth!

    Dealing with poor quality diesel

Its used a lot in marine diesel engines (due to the much increased risk of water getting into the tank), and kills off bugs that grow in diesel/water (even a very small amount) mixture, especialy if its going to be in the tank some time As it sounds it is a biocide (something that kills off...

    Smoke Smoke Smoke

If there was a huge amount of water in the tank then there should be water in the bottom of the fuel filter - there is a drain plug on the bottom. Put a clear glass under to collect the contents, and see if there are two layers. Other thought that springs to mind is that the timing of the...

    Wiring mystery.....

How have you made the connection into the main beam circuit? If you have used one of those 'scotch lock' things (blue thing you put both wires into and then clamp the cover over) then ther are prone to failure as depending on the wire thickness they dont cut the through the insulation...

2 new cv joint blown up

    Dealing with poor quality diesel

Just keep a couple of spare filters with you, and know how to change them, and bleed out the system (search forums will help with this) May also help to put a bit of biocide in from time to time. I ran into trouble with dirty fuel, full of bacteria and alge, but that was mainly because i...

any tips for boosting 2.5TD performance?

Yes but what i was trying to say was that the unswept space increases slightly as well, becuause by boring it out you increase the diameter of the cylinder. If you leave the head intact, then thats fine, that space stays the same, and hence that part of the unswept area remains the same...

    waffle boards

I have a set of rubber ones as well. Obviously only usefull in certain situations, but come in real handy last year in the alps when I had to get a tossed in a pretend 4x4 with no diff locks out of the way so I could get up the road. They also don't cause as much dmage when they go flying...

    the hunt for backlash

Am just a bit concerned about the wheel that is having some resistance to bein turned in one direction. Most likely it's just the brake binding slightly, which is normal and fine to leave, however it could also be the cv joint etc on it's way out. Just watch for any change in it's...
