    Finally got myself a disco

Good choice of vehicle, the vehicle that saved Land Rover back in the late 1980s. And soooo much better than all those Brokeback Mountian 4x4s that tow plant around these days ...I use my 3 door L reg constanly for 1001 different things and it just keeps going!

    Living with it

    Living with it

Ain't it grand when you open the curtains in the morning and there is an inch or two of snow? Working from home today.... so it was of to Richmond Park to see if I could photography some deer in the snow...as you do. No deer to be found but my old Disco was the best looking thing in the car...

    Whining alternator

My newish alternator has developed an annoying whine and before shelling my Xmas money I was wondering is there a cure...or is it better to buy a new one? If I buy a new one which, in your opinion, is the best for a standard none modified family Disco?

    Living with it

A quick up date on this fab little car. Since buying it in early summer and then replacing the head gasket and clutch it's been very reliable ( touch wood, fingers crossed etc). Me, the family and usual a canoe or two on the roof have driven many untroubled miles, 7 seats deployed its has...

    LT77 ATF and E90 mixing??

So a manual gearbox that is designed to run off automatic transmission fluid actually runs better with manual transmission fuel.....now the bloke at the auto factors didn't mention that !! It's good this forum....

    LT77 ATF and E90 mixing??

Yes sorry EP90 ... I thought it a little strange when he suggested it....but I thought I would ask just in case I was missing something...

    LT77 ATF and E90 mixing??

So I was picking up some ATF at my local auto factors, for my LT77 gearbox, and the bloke behind the counter said I should mix in a bit of EP90 'for extra bite' ! Is he talking nonsense or sense? If sense how much do you mix in?

2.5 N/A diesel engine in South West London

Up for sale is my old 2.5 n/a diesel engine 12J.....spares and repairs on this one. I bought it second hand about 12 years ago for use in my 109. It did sterling service until it developed an oil pressure problem which I assumed was cylinder ring wear, I then swapped it for a 200tdi. Anyway it...

    Burning smell uphill

I get this and am about to change my gearbox and transfer box oils too....I also have the wading plug on my fly wheel rounded off and haven't got round to removing it. I am wondering if there is a build up of trapped oil in the fly wheel casing that flicks up onto the clutch when giving it the...

Improving 300tdi mpg (the obvious and less obvious stuff!)

August is my families busy month....school hols, visiting family, going on holiday to Devon and the Lakes etc. My Discos get loaded with canoes, camping gear and 400 electronic gadgets to keep the kids happy! Last August I had a D1 300td1 auto, this August I had a D1 200tdi manual and did about...

    Clutch wurl

So I have just had my 200tdi D1 clutch replaced by a reputable garage near to where I live. All seems good, gears change, no crunches etc The only thing is when I depress the clutch at anything over 20 mph you get a wurlling sound, not too loud or unpleasant. I am guessing its the release...

    RRC police/military spec springs comparison

I popped the police spec ones in my 300 tdi auto, when empty the back end tended to bounce a bit. However with two canoes on the roof, two kids in the back and two weeks worth of camping gear and holiday gear touching the roof in the back it was brilliant. I am about to order them again for my...
