Hi my TD4 does this ...... am totally puzzeled.......when driving it appears fine and generaaly does not smoke. I thought it was probably the injectors...... not passing the right fuel at light throttle loadings ............ please can you post your fix if you find fault

Yes I know ..... the MOT police would not be happy ....... but the engine would be well happy.....my dear old Mk1 Cortina did precisely this.......

I have been using 400ml per tank and Millers additive this combo seems very good .... Millers seems to improve mpg. Will report back....

Using 400ml to 55 lts running great ...... + have used with millers this seemed to help mpg ......... will report back.

Hi has anybody any further news or help with blue smoke on startup...........one last thing if battery voltage was slightly low but the current capacity ok for cranking.....would this cause glow plugs to work inffectively.........causing slightly sluggish catch..... hence smoke???

No worries for TD4 ... engine in this is M47R ..... not the M47 TU2 this stands for technical update 2 ..... where flaps were introduced to reduce emissions:eek: So no worries for old lumps!!! yes your richt for BM owners of 320d's this is a serious issue.

Do your glow plugs draw correct amps? ....... my Hippo had all sorts of strange things happening ..... unitl I changed all 4 glow plugs with NGK jobbies..... otherwise I'm scratching my head...hmmmm

Why not do a common rail purge ......... BG244 this is really powerful stuff. Take off filter...get a new one fill up with BG244 then refit. Startup let it idle for 2 mins .... this gets the cleaner right into injectors. Then switch off .... leave for 24 hours .... startup take it out for run...

Any resolution to this... is there an update???
