    D2 front towbar

I have the Watling front mount for my D2. Pretty decent bit of kit. On the price list the D2 and D1 have different part numbers so it's unlikely it would fit. If you are handy at fabrication it might be possible to modify the sub frame to make it fit. There's not much to it.

Disco 2 Air Intake: Water ingress and solution

Hi I have put some sealer between the heater intake and the body on my D2 as there was quite a gap and I was advised on AULRO about this. It's hard to get at it properly so I have it in mind to strip some parts off to get at this properly at some point. I am still getting some water into the...

    disco steering play

The TD5 is really sensitive to front tyres. I was chasing a vague steering issue on mine for ages and as a last resort I swapped the back tyres with the front and that totally sorted it. The previous owner had let the front tyres wear unevenly. Cheers, Andy

    2001 TD5 S lack of power

The car could maybe be overboosting. I think when this happens the ECU cuts fuel. It might be that the wastegate arm on the turbo has siezed. To free this you need to remove the rod that operates it and move it back and forth after adding some lube to the moving part. You're doing the right...

To buy or not to buy!

The TD5 aint so bad to work on. I've had mine 2.5 years and have repaired loads of niggly faults so far. Nothing too difficult at all. The TD5 has some nice features. I like the ACE active cornering and the self levelling air suspension alot. The curry hook is also dead useful:) Cheers, Andy

    300Tdi or go for a Td5?

I've had a TD5 for 2 and 1/2 years. I've had to fix a heap of niggly faults that are common on TD5's when they get on a bit. I've found it pretty easy to work on. Parts have been cheap enough too mostly. Corossion wise they are pretty good, except for the top of the windscreen, and the rear...

    Pics of my new toy.

So confused! Disco 4 reliable or not??

Have a look on DISCO3.CO.UK - Dedicated to Discovery 3 and LR3 Owners and Enthusiasts for some info on the Disco 4. I have my eye on a D4. I reckon that in 10 years time my TD5 will be ready for replacement and I might be able to afford one of those. :) Cheers, Andy

    disco 2 snaking

The handling on my TD5 was very poor and it turned out to be uneven wear on the front tyres. Even though the car was tracking ok, the tyres were messing things up. This was particularly obvious on cornering. I stuck the rear wheels on the front and all is well. Some threads on the forums...

Mate, try DISCO3.CO.UK - Index for some D3 info. Not too many D3 owners on here. Cheers, Andy

Discovery 2 3rd row seat stowage

I have a feeling that cars that have separate AC for the rear passangers have one of the 3rd row seats sitting out a bit more as you say. Cheers, Andy

So, how is the Disco for reliability?

I've just been under my yr 2000 TD5 scraping off chassis rust. The back of the car is pretty rusty but is cleaning up well with no holes present. I'll be coating the rust with something or other soon, maybe waste engine oil. The rest of the chsssis is great, probably due all the leaking oil over...

Thinking of a TD5... Any Tips?

There was a thread a while back about the possible of beneifts of buying a higher miles TD5, that if looked after could well have all these niggly faults fixed. Mine has 137K now and in the 2.5 years I've had it I've fixed most of those already mentioned here. Sometimes I feel a bit bored...

Doctor, how long has she got?

Any chance that this could be the manifold? It's a known issue that the manifold can warp letting some gas out and giving a squeal. Cheers, Andy

How do I swap over the TD5 Fuel Pump

I read a thread on here a while ago about noisey fuel pumps on the TD5. From memory, someone brought theirs back to life by taking it apart and cleaning the inner filter. Might be worth a look? Cheers, Andy

    2001 Discover td5 XS Auto??

Hi SRM Who did the work for you and how does the car feel now with the ACE removed? Cheers, Andy

To swap or not?..that is the Question!

Before I bought my TD5, I hired out a TD5 90 to collect a boat from Scotland. This was the first time I had driven a Defender. My lasting impression of this was that it was cramped, the head lights were poor, the windscreen wipers were ineffective and it was very difficult to keep the side...

    2001 Discover td5 XS Auto??

My 2000 TD5 cost £3950 two and a half years ago. It had 118k on it then and 136K now. At the time it was not much more than tdi money but no service history worth talking about. Since buying it I've fixed a heap of niggly faults and am proud of the fact that I have done all of them myself...

    advice needed on td5

I have a TD5 manual and to be honest it's ok on A roads etc. City driving or stop start traffic queues are a pain with the manual. The change isn't slick and the clutch is heavy. It's definitely not chick friendly. If I was buying again I would definitely get an auto. Cheers, Andy

    Discovery Camping?!?

That tent looks brilliant. Just wondering about the separate ground sheet. Will that keep the water out ok if it's ****ing down? Cheers, Andy
