    Eye on a future project

My MG has a 5AS alarm unit, which need to be coded to the fob for the immobilizer to work. If you are going to have a look for the key/fob, perhaps this could of some use? Just a though. :)

K-series, keeps eating the cam belt.. Advice please?

Thank you for the quick reply. My thoughts aswell a pulley that does not sit straight, but having replaced the two weeks old waterpump, the two weeks old tensioner (that broke), and the lower crank pulley has also been replaced now, (which I also thought was strange, but replaced it anyway with...

K-series, keeps eating the cam belt.. Advice please?

Hello all. I have a strange problem, some might have seen the pictures in the "what have you done to the expensive lander today" thread. Long story short. In June (I think) I heard a loud bank from the engine, a aux belt pulley had failed, causing the aux belt to lodge on the crank shaft timing...

How much have you spent on your Freelander?

2001 1.8 5 doors. The list is to long to list, but app. £5700 in parts and labour, plus the price of the car £3000. £8700 in total. That's in almost 2 years of ownership. (I might add that the car still does not run.. )

What have you done to your Freelander today

Good news and bad news (again). Good, fitted the new aerial base, inspection cover (Yes, M6 bolts..) and a new window regulator. Changed over the motor, works perfectly, I now have 2 windows working, driver and rear.. ;) Bad. Heard a noise from the engine, undid the bolts to the cam belt...

What have you done to your Freelander today

You Sir, are a star! Thanks a lot! I guess I'll take one from the other side temporarily, don't like driving around with the belts etc. exposed like that. Will have a look in the magic spare nuts and bolts box for something similar.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Finally got the parcel from gentlemenofsalvage. Small minor bits that I needed. However, they did not provide me with the bolts for the enginebay cover. Long shot, but do anyone know what kind of bolts I need?:S This is where it's suppose to be fitted:

1.8 cooling issues - Bottom rad hose cold!

I would still buy a new cap and test that, it's only a few £. If the system is not pressurized correctly the boiling point of the coolant drops, which could mean the system does not get hot enough for the thermostat to fully open and still boils because of the lack of pressure. Anyone know at...

1.8 cooling issues - Bottom rad hose cold!

I had some similar problems a while back, see this post. It seemed to be a combination of several issues, when I changed the cap an refilled with coolant plus a new inlet gasket, the car never had issues again.

Fit cheap Ebay rear parking sensors, advice to location of sensors

Quick update. Finished installing it, all I can say is go for the wired one, not this wireless kit.. On the positive side, it's possible to tell it to take the towbar and spare wheel into account and tell you the distance to the outer rear point of the car and not to the sensors. A few pics...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Changed over to Winter tyres. Installed the rear parking sensors, will post pictures in another thread. Bottom line is they are unreliable to say the least.. EDIT: Added link to the parking sensor thread.

Fit cheap Ebay rear parking sensors, advice to location of sensors

Thank you all for your replies! Would anyone with a OEM kit be willing to post some pictures of the angle of the sensors? I think I'll mount them in the same position as the top picture, will report back with pictures. The wiring is easy, power from the reverse light, ground somewhere. Same...

Fit cheap Ebay rear parking sensors, advice to location of sensors

Hello all! Bought a cheap rear parking sensor kit on ebay a while back. This one to be precise. Need some advice to where I should put the sensors, please. The two in the middle is no problem, already drilled the holes, similar to the blue one in the last picture. The ones one the sides are...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Finally got the car back, new HG, all other gaskets, waterpump etc. runs great. Also fitted the rear speakers (finally). BUT, managed to tear off the aerial today, backing into my new (low) garage, and I'm missing an engine cover, must have fallen of at some point. It was only attached with a...

K-series water temp. sensor. Wrong one?

Thank you very much for the info. Alright, then the sensor I bought is for the old MEMS 1.9 engines, at least I can use it on my MK1 MGF then. :) Does anyone happen to have the correct part number for the sensor I actually need? :) A picture to show what Mr. Northern Irelander is on about...

K-series water temp. sensor. Wrong one?

Hello all! After the engine went and a complete rebuild is in progress, I'm going to change the water temp. sensor aswell as all the other bits and bobs. It's got a small leak and when every other gasket/belt/pump/valves etc. is beeing changed, it needs to be replaced. :) Well, ordered this...
