Is that plate not specific to the lightweight though Steve? I mean if it was previously a 2a petrol, as VIN suggests, now modded for a LWT body with original chassis coiled, plate might not be there? But if its series 2a or 3 LWT chassis it would be? (if not hacked off in mods)

I don't believe you can legally use a second hand chassis. Think it must be the original unmodified chassis or a new chassis of the same specification as the original supported by evidence from the dealer or manufacturer (e.g. receipt).

Talk to Pressbrake on here. He makes the best rear crossmembers by far. Think they are 6mm. Loads of praise for his work and happy customers on here.

Don't think you can ever change vin number... Whatever is stamped on the chassis should be its true ID. unless tampered with.

You could use form V888 from post office and for £5 (I think) find out all the info held by Dvla. See if mods are declared etc. What dates they were done if declared. It may have had a series 2A body on before the lightweight? Body carries no points in the "points system" because of separate chassis.

Oh, that explains the no engine number on V5 then! I did not know that about Mod engines though. Eeeh, you learn something every day eh?

Personally, I would still want engine number on V5, as it is another identifier if stolen to prove it's yours if stripped.. It may also look a bit iffy if you ever have to sell it and have to explain to potential buyer that engine did not come from dodgy sources.

Basically, yes. Advise them of fuel type change if previously petrol. Dvla sometimes want to see receipt for engine as well now.
