p38 track rod assembly replaced, now steering wheel offset!

You did remember to count the number of threads showing on the old track rod end before taking it off and put the new one to the same thread number didn't you ? :)

    P38 Japanese import/re-import - any ideas?

Hi John - how's it going ? The speedo has been changed to read in mph - this is simply sticking an mph biased sticker over the kph biased one As far as I know you can only buy these genuine stickers from a main stealer, but even they can't charge much for a sticker ! Cos the speedo now reads in...

    P38 Japanese import/re-import - any ideas?

I have a 4.6 Jap import, had it 3 years or more now and would highly recommend getting one As long as all the paperwork is in place, which it will be after being here for 4 years , you will be fine I couldn't believe how clean and rust free mine was underneath, and still has no rust at all on...

    Wallet at the ready ...

I can't believe TVR mated the LT77 gearbox to a V8 engine ! - no wonder it failed, it was never designed to mate to a V8 Why didn't they use the LT85 Santana box that Land Rover used in the original 90/110 V8's ? Anyway, best of luck in your search - choose wisely and be lucky and you won't...

    Advice for a new looker

If you go the V8 route then get a 4.6 - they are actually slightly more economical than the 4.0, with an added bonus of an extra 40 odd horsepower Real world MPG figures will range from anywhere between 12-15 mpg around town to low 20's on a run - a lot depends on how you drive, it's hard not to...

    Slightly concerning rumble...

As Andy says there should be no play - it's sometimes hard to check with the propshaft in place - try a pry bar between the yokes and GENTLY put pressure on to look for movement If you suspect them get it off and into a vice to have a proper look I never noticed any real difference in road noise...

    Slightly concerning rumble...

Jock, in some cases when fitting coil springs you get a bit more road noise being transmitted through the chassis - it may just be this However, if I remember correctly you have fitted heavy duty +2" springs This will have changed the prop shaft angle and probably put a different strain on the...

    sagging headlining!!!!

The backing on P38 head lining is possible to recover unlike classic head lining - once it goes it's a bin job Whip the whole headling out and remove the old cloth and foam backing (that's what makes it feel thick ) You will then have to VERY carefully remove all traces of the old adhesive to...
