If the engine and gear box etc is in good nick, I would certainly be having ago at fixing it up, just like the last one I did, and this one doesnt sound as bad.

There are kits on ebay to fit them, basically just like the ends of the light bar that screw onto the gutter rail... So I would imagine pretty easy to fabricate up some brackets if the light never came with any ;)

No harm in switching the headlights, as they have better output than the D1's. That is the reason I switched to D2 headlights - not in anyway to look like one, as I much prefer my 300tdi than the TD5's ;) But I am bias as I really like lights :D as I took my facelift's apart, and fitted...

that's what I was suspecting after have the door card off....... oh well, will have to wait for another dry weekend to have another go

Well, after putting the job off for long enough, as I had replacement springs in the garage for I reckon 2 years :rolleyes: I thought I would have a go at the weekend. Started with the rear passenger doors, and all went well - approx. 30mins each door :cool: Then onto the fronts, and noticed...

when cold, means your coolant level is dropping :eek:

all fixed :) I reckon it must have been going for a while, as she seems a lot quieter and not getting so hot, and also seems more power to the steering (might be making that all up in my head to justify the costs), but got nice shiny new parts under the bonnet.... Also heaters blow out hot...

I don't have a vice or press to get the old one out and the new one in as I did see they can be changed, so will have to get the whole lot, but too be honest its costing me £50.00 for 2 belts and the tensioner which I didn't think was too bad.

I had a good inspection this morning, and the pulley tensioner bearing has gone, which resulted in shredding the belt :eek: New belts and a new tensioner pulley ordered and will pick them up today to get the old girl back on the road - with spares also ordered ;)

OK, thanks for the heads up, will have a thorough check when I have a chance at the weekend in the daylight ;)

yes, all turn freely except the big bottom one (sorry not very technical with engines - better in other areas!), which I am guessing is the engine crank?

no - will go and see if any of them can turn.....
