What do you get on a full tank ??

Had a hard time starting it today. Is it possible that when I put svo in yesterday, it has not mixed and gone up to the pump neat? I went for a 10 mile drive and filled up to the brim with derv since. I wonder if its time to change the fuel filter since I havent changed it since putting SVO in?

What do you get on a full tank ??

Just put 24L SVO and 15L derv to fill up after doing 215 miles of local trips over the last few weeks. 25.3mpg.

    Ignition Locked

Failing that its £36 for a new one and easy enough to fit. I've done 2 so far. A common failure I'm afraid.

What do you get on a full tank ??

MPG needs to worked our accurately. Its no good by driving til the light comes on and calculating in terms of 'tankfuls' when its not even clear how big the tank is! I fill mine up to first click on the pump (anymore might go out the vent and its precious stuff) I then drive to my destination...

If the light is only on at idle then it points to worn main/big end bearings

What do you get on a full tank ??

You should make a video of a trip from London to Edinburgh and back on a tankful in a Landrover 'Gas Guzzler' and send it to Ken Livingstone (and Clarkson for good measure!)

    Miles Miles Mi... Uh Oh

I don't think its a huge job, theres a few screws around the instrument cluster and the cover comes right off and theres a couple of bolts holding the instruments down. Probably just as easy to get one from a scrappy if its no good.

What do you get on a full tank ??

I think its a high setting so its a kind of back up. I wonder if you can get a lower rated one?

    Miles Miles Mi... Uh Oh

No it sounds like your speedo is broken. There are gears that drive the odometer wheels and somethings worn out/broken/fallen off. The instrument binnacle can be taken out relatively easily (I think) if you are that bothered. It must be good having a vehicle that never clocks up any miles!

    Miles Miles Mi... Uh Oh

Is the speedo actually working but just not recording miles? If so then its an internal problem in the speedo housing. There will be either a cable coming from the transfer box (pre 94) or a sender unit with wires attached on later models.

What do you get on a full tank ??

This is my point. A/C models have 2 big leccy fans on the front of ther rad, If you short the 2 wires on the sw on the thermostat housing they will come on. I think the setting on that switch is a bit high as I have only ever heard them come on when the engine was almost at meltdown with the...

    Removing rear (boot!) seats

The way I did it was to undo the 2 wing nuts and take the whole light unit out. Also you can pull the vinyl trim away at the floor level and get your hand in that way.

What do you get on a full tank ??

I reckon I get about 450 miles before the light comes on. usually average 26mpg. on a run over 500 miles. Looking forward to getting some more - the viscous fan (you would think someone could invent a type of clutch that would engage the fan when needed but leave it disconnected when not needed.

I have got some bubbling in the wheel arches where you open the back doors. Funny thing is it was spotless a year ago so someone did a great job of hiding it and spraying the right colour etc. Can you get at the underneath of the arches then? underseal a good idea after rustproofing? We have...
