    Help required please ASAP

Hi For instructions on coolant flushing, etc. get hold of a copy of RAVE, it is available as a free download on this forum. With regard to the other issue, this is a really interesting one. I am assuming that none of these faults were present in the car before the change of battery? Thanks Andy

2000 p38 Rear windows and left direction indicators out

Obviously that is a power board swap not a logic board swap (no point in that whatsoever!), why do you only notice the obvious mistakes once the damn thing is posted! :) Andy

2000 p38 Rear windows and left direction indicators out

If you are happy taking the BECM apart, you could certainly give Fanatic's idea a go, but you will need to make sure that you get a compatible BECM, there are low line and high line units as well as variations as the unit was developed during production. Certainly though a logic board swap is...

    bit of help...

I would go for the new unit option to be honest. With regard to leaving it for a year, make certain the alarm is deactivated, doors unlocked etc when you disconnect the battery, don't want issues with the BECM locking down after you get the engine sorted. You can obviously lock the doors...

2000 p38 Rear windows and left direction indicators out

Hi, this is bad news I am afraid by the sounds of things, it is likely that you have got damage to your BECM. the burning smell is more likely to be a MOSFET in the BECM than a fuse. Your BECM may be repairable but you need to think that it may well need to be replaced. If you are making an...

    please help !! locked out

Hi All Can I assume that with the key in the door, you cannot unlock anything by turning it? Trying to ascertain whether we are talking lock issue or BECM issue?. Thanks Andy

installing twin exhaust on P38 2.5TD BMW ??

Hi All The biggest issue you may well face is that on single exit systems the brake pipes are routed differently to those on twin exit exhaust systems. I changed my single exit system for a sports quad exit and had to rework brake pipes to make things fit as well as get the stock exhaust...

Hi What should happen is on the first button press the car should lock, on the second button press nothing will appear to happen, unless you hold the button down with windows, etc open and then the windows, sunroof etc should all close. after about 15 - 20 seconds the car will then double lock...

Speaker problem now original HK stereo fitted

Hi Flanders7, The problem that you may have is that on the HSE the radio that was fitted originally did not have internal power amps these were located in the doors with the speakers. fitting an aftermarket stereo and making it work with the door amps is difficult to put it mildly, there are...

Does your air suspension always rise a little in the morning?

Obviously the flavour of soup is unimportant! :) and 'be' should be 'by' Maybe I should give up trying to type now!

Does your air suspension always rise a little in the morning?

When you say you have checked for leaks, have you done this with soupy water or a leak detection spray or other similar product, or is this just be feel? A little bit of air leaking overnight might well cause this. Andy

    p38 backfired now wont start

Hi Bobbler Is it by any chance a single point LPG system? Sounds like the backfire may have done damage to the airflow meter. I assume it was basically running fine before the backfire? Andy

    CLassic seats

Hi Propsail You can fit any seats including vogue ones from very early four doors by simply sliding yours off and sliding the replacements on. Problem is by very early I mean latest B reg and some of those even had the later separate seat belt design. I sold a good set last year for well over...

    Rovcom or Testbook

Hi Paul This really does need doing on the bench, once the BECM is 'locked out' you cannot get to it via the diagnostics socket at all. We are based in Bedfordshire and can do this, but it does need the BECM out of the car and in bits on a bench. Getting the BECM out of the car isn't as...
