    split charge V's twin alternators

It depends on how much electrics you run. If you run a lot of high charge units together all the time twin alternators help keep things topped up and fully functioning. If you have a winch, rarely use it, fridge, rarely use it, GPS/laptop on all the time, spots used now and again etc then a...

    Defender TD5 or TDi?

I will say 300tdi just to even things out :D TD5's are now not as bad as some discussions would lead you to believe. Also most problems have been solved and are well documented on the forums so often easier to fix than they were say 10 years ago. G

    winch, what route??

you can still 'freespool' all the wire off regardless wether its connected or not. Take the 35mm(2) cables along the top of the chassis leg, return the negative to the battery. Put a cut out switch in the cab, on the battery box. leave the fuse, not needed. G

How do you get you roof tent on your roof...

1 or 2 either side is best. If you had a roll cage you can slide it up and on ;) I would fit the bars 1st leaving a flat bottom of the RTT then slide it on and spend some time getting to the clamps. it is akward but you wont get any scratches. G

    Side Exit Exhaust - Again

I moved mine so I could fit a rear fuel tank. some people crush the original one on the x member this is pretty rare. for water reasons? just a myth. makes no difference where you exhaust is if its low down. mine has been fitted since 08 and not had a problem with the law or the MOT...
