Equipe 4x4 spare wheel hi-lift / waffle carrier

As title really, I have converted Equipes Hi-Lift mount to take 2x 38mm waffle boards by using some threaded bar and hex nuts. I also trimmed a small portion off the mount to allow the waffles to sit flat. Can easily be put back to original to carry Hi-Lift so you have the best of both...

To replace the swivel ball or not

propshaft UJ is usually the cause at that speed. Do you get a clunk when taking up drive? I would drop the props and check them 1st, even wear in the splines of the prop, they may become siezed. Check tracking, check wheels balanced and check wheel bearings as suggested. I did the top pin...

BGB we are going to Siberia not the Americas! :D wrong way. finished the final 2 lacquer coats off today, doors should be back on soon and its coming back together again slowly. Our progress when we leave the UK on January 26th will be updated via Facebook predominantly and then through the...

    Overland Trailer - Sankey Based

So not a huge amount has happened on my trailer recently, but we have sprayed it Epsom Green :D I also decided not to do a sliding rear drawer in the back and instead have cargo lashing rails which seem to work really well. We leave the UK around the 25th January and I still need to sort...

    Terrafirma Springs/D44 cones/OME shocks/TF Shocks/Winch Sail/Propshaft

Full set of +2" Terrafirma medium duty springs to suit Defender 90/Disco 1. About 4 years old but not sagging or tired. These have covered only 20,000 miles. Swapped them out for HD rears as we are doing a big trip next year. Could do with a sandblast and respray if your fussy as the coating has...

    Snapped Swivel Bolt

well Its right through with a 3.5, half through with a 5mm but only 1/4 through with a 6mm as I could start to see the outer threads on the axle case. If I can make a fresh start and drill straight through with a 7 or 8mm I could tap the old **** out and re-tap the thread. I dont want to...

    Snapped Swivel Bolt

Im going to do this, but need the aid of an old flange (ooo err) to help guide the bit in centrally. Its almost impossible to get it straight otherwise. G

    Snapped Swivel Bolt

There is one in Chippenham for £100 on ebay but I really dont want to go down that route if I can help it. Would rather drill/tap this one as its only one bolt. If I had 2-3 bolts snapped I would! G

    Snapped Swivel Bolt

Right, yes, the photo shows I have welded to the casing. Doh! I drilled that back off now though. Just had a chap around to try with a MIG but that did the same. Guess there is a better arc off the casing than the bolt! anyway, I am now after an old swivel ball as I plan to use the flange as a...

    Snapped Swivel Bolt

Cant get the molegrips on the end shifty :( tried that. its too close to axle housing. I may have to call out a mobile mechanic as my garage is limited to small tools really. most exotic thing I have is an ARC welder. G

    Snapped Swivel Bolt

No, just a scrape. All bolts were loctited. Just butchered the sheared off bolt by drilling it. Anyone else driving around with 1 bolt missing? I was wondering if I could weld a nut onto the existing thread on the rear and draw it out that way? anybody done that? G

    Snapped Swivel Bolt

I dont have a left hand thread drill bit but did try the extractors. These wouldn't bite into the metal though so were pretty much useless. photos attached, looks like a bit of a mess in these! I think I may have to keep drilling! G
