Dont need the wheel off! Just undo the two screws, pull the binnacle foward and the mother ****er always falls out!

Is there no other way? Maybe it can be freed by engaging 3rd somehow?

So yesterday as stated, I came home stuck in 4th gear on a suffix D gearbox. I have taken out the 1/2 and Reverse selectors but the 3rd and 4th one wont budge. I have tried pushing on the syncromesh and it all moves freely. As she was stuck in 4th, is there anyway to engage 3rd to remove...

Its actually not stupid. Its a very good idea. It lasts forever cause its metal and the oil bath actually catches crap!

I gave everything a damn good soak in petrol. It was a mix of mud oil and umm. HAIR all over the top of the gearbox!

so all of them need to be lined up side by side, say use a rule to straighten them? They do have slight movement in as they are but are not lined up

the 3rd one along is Reverse aint it? its got the springy device next to it
