Can the valves be removed without a spring compressed?

Hello, I have a 1957 109 currently fitted with a series 3 2.25 petrol mated to a fully synchro series 3 box with an early 2 bellhousing to retain the mechanical clutch operation. Might have access to a cheap 2.5 NAD - question is will this just swap straight in? Does in have same mounts etc...

Well a new thermostat fitted and working but it was a new voltage stabilzer that made the temp gauge read as it should. New cone air filter fitted with a modified elbow and seems to run a bit smooter but tomorrow will get to test whether the top end power has improved. Had a compression tester...

Well got the long bit out but damaged the thread at the head. Driilled it through and will fit a long bolt and nut. Best of luck all those others having disasters

I have a 74 degree thermostat, new voltage stabiliser and air filter due for the weekend - we can rebuild it, the 6 million dollar land rover (god I am soooo broke).

Well got it to fit with some judicious trimming.

The elbow has arrived so will see if it fits tonight. Might have to go bonnet free and show off the 2.25 4 pot! I think its running a bit hot mainly due to the gauge, rad top gets very hot and can hear a little hissing under the cap and also a bit down on power. Working through a list of...

Thanks for that. I have an elbow and can filter on its way and just hope I can get the elbow on and the bonnet closed otherwise I will have to improvise. Also got a new thermostat on its way which may help what maybe a warm running motor.

I eventually got it loose with some gentle taps and wd40. Got the new one fitted but now the timing is a bit off. Will have to get it done and hopefully will cure the weak top end power. Might look at getting a new tube for the vacuum advance.

Bloody thing is stuck in. Clamp unbolted and it won't budge. Does it just need a knock with a hammer?
