I would also offer some proper V6 and V8 engines as well as optional locking...

Updated it, modernized it but kept it as a jeep.
Separate chassis, live axles, basic hose out interior, easily modified and actively encouraged.
It gives the jeep brand credibility.
LT230 has been used in just about every 90 and 110 since the mid 80's. They are common as muck and can be found everywhere.
They were also used the the discovery with a taller gear ratio for more relaxed motorway work.
Do you do a lot of towing?... if not you might want to go for a disco box...

I recently bought a 1983 land rover 110 with 4 speed and 3.5 carb V8 as a non runner.
After fitting a new distributer and a bit of fettling I got it running but noticed on top of the offside exhaust manifold there was a flange/bracket with 2 pipes and exhaust belching out into the engine bay...
I would hope the 110 fits in the parking bay since they are only as long as a ford focus estate ;) (182 inches)
A Ford Mondeo (192 inches) is about a foot longer than the focus and 110

You want good cranking speed and a battery with plenty of cold weather amps.
Your starter may be shagged and drawing too much current compared to it's tractive effort.
had one in my 110... got rid of it and fitted a 200tdi for exactly this reason... parts are hard to get.
Same engine as the 2.8 DG so try and find a scrapped daihatsu fourtrac somewhere and pilfer it.

just fit air helper springs in the rear for when you want to tow :)
If you only tow 10% of the time... why suffer with a stiff ride for the other 90%?
Been messing about with different springs for a few year now and have formed the opinion that unless you are loading up your truck constantly...
Fit the softest springs you can get your hands on...

Beware that disco/range rover/90 springs wont fit on the back of a 110 or 130 but the fronts will be fine.
