You can change these bearings easily with box in situ

why doesnt it use all splines on drop arm. Theres about 10mm unused.

Ok it was a lot higher on old box and its only using 3/4 of the splines on drop arm. I havent pushed washer over yet as i was going to take it off again.

This is as far as it will go at 176nm.

Yea i have it all lined up slides on first bit lovely. Nut goes on and tightens but only not all the way on drop arm splines. I will take a photo

Just bought a recon steering box which is apparently good quality and used by landrover. Box went in ok but put drop arm on with copper grease made sure it was in line and pushed it on. I know its tapered but i have tightened the nut up to 176 nm but something is stopping it going on. Had to...

Finally did this and wasnt to bad a job. No puller just knocked it out with chisel and hammer.

How hard is the shaft to get out. Did it cure oil leak and play

Has anyone tried to replace front transfer box output shaft bearing with box in situ. Need to replace bearing but dont want to take transfer box out. Ive heard it can be done by using a home made slide hammer to remove shaft.

Its £25 for the day. Toilets and burger van on site
