    Diff play

Ta, glad the diff isn't a problem. UJ's on order from Paddocks. :)

    Diff play

Not much really, I can rock it a few mm to either side. Probably worrying when it's not warranted, having seen how what is described as 'slight play' in the propshaft can rather quickly turn into a 'how the **** is it still in one piece' situation! :D

Don't forget the oil tanker following you around for when you run out of petrol. ;)

    Diff play

Had my SIIa up on the ramps this weekend to check a few things over - including figuring out where all the oil levels are and checking those. I knew that the front propshaft (rear) UJ had play in it - when I bought the truck in January the seller gave me the advisory not with the MOT from...

    Checking oil levels

Good advice, I found a slightly worn 14mm socket (dodecagon not hex) did the trick, so have marked it with tape! Was relieved to see that all the levels are fine. Thanks!

    Checking oil levels

Wanted to check the oil level in me rangie diffs, back one seems a bit empty. What spanner/tool do I need to remove the square plug/bolt? Ta.

    Snorkel

    Looks good that snorkel Rusty.

    Snorkel

I was thinking of making one for my SIIA, should be easy enough. Possibly gonna get a southdown wing moulding as they look the biz, get a metal pipe from B&Q as the plastic drainpipes look, well plasticky - they have black powder coated metal pipes they sell as worktop legs for £8 that look...

    Blocked Washer Jets

Ta chaps. :) I'll get the missus to give the tube a good blow then! :D

    Blocked Washer Jets

My SIIa had a duff washer jet pump when I got it so I ordered one from Paddocks and replaced it. Pump works fine, scooshes water aplenty but nowt is coming out the jets. I assume they are just blocked with gunge. Is it safe enough to shove an air-gun on the end of the tubes and blow the gunge...

    Pedal Rubbers

Seems to be two up and over, two under, one to the side - which leaves a prong sticking straight out. Whether that is to take the place of the raised edge on the clutch & brake pedals, to prevent yer foot slipping off, I'm not sure. Pain in the arse buggers to fit in situ - I had to put a...

    Pedal Rubbers

Cheers Mseries3 - those are the same ones I have, think I was looking at 'em sideways! Still can't quite fathom why that one prong sticks out the front rather than the side like the rest, weird.

    Pedal Rubbers

Stupid question this, but I got a set of pedal rubbers off a mate for my SIIa - he bought 'em for his defender but they don't fit, and the pedals on Jarvis were bare metal when I got him. They have metal prongs protruding from the sides of the rubber which are presumably for battering round...

Roof rack on a soft top?

I saw a Defender 90 Cab/Rag Top with a roof rack - they had bolted an access ladder to each side of the pickup tub and used those as supports for the rear of their rack. Looked better than it sounds!

    Getting Insurance Cover.

Not exactly the same engine change but I've just insured my SIIa with a 3.3 ltr perkins conversion and found heritage the cheapest, they beat footman James in my case.

Well, there was a time back in the Stone Roses, madchester faze when that was the 'look'. I'll just keep my fingers crossed Trinny & Susannah tell us floppy hats are the in thing next summer. :D
