Which hose did you restrict exactly? Also, what did you use? I have the same issue as you, with my temp gauge usually reading below half way and heater function is feeble - i'd like to give this a go... Thanks for a great suggestion and write up!

In my case, the cause was wear & tear after 120,000 miles....no other problem. From the other instances i've read about on here, most happened around the same mileage and were also not cause by a specific problem.

That's the one...it's easy enough to check - get front wheels on full right lock and take off the three (i think) bolts holding the splash shield on. Once that's off, it's usually pretty clear by eye (like mine) or with a bit of wiggling if the crankshaft pulley damper is fecked.

As far as i'm aware: Post 2000 freelander wheels can be used ok on pre 2000 freelanders, however pre 2000 freelander wheels require spacers to be used on post 2000 freelanders (as i found out the hard way when i bought some lovely pre-2000 16" wheels with winter tyres on).

yeah i've done it a few times for myself and a couple for others - never had any problems. even now, i can get the original Land Rover filter i put in last in no problem and have it seated in a few seconds at first try. Haven't had a chance to go and try again today, but will do tomorrow...

Thanks for the advice - To be honest i've never had a problem aligning it before with any other filter, but ill give it another go later today. It seems i can't align the sealing fins at the back because the filter is larger / getting in the way...i'll see if i'm wiser / better today :)

Hi, Was changing my air filter today, the old one looked terrible. The new one was from Bearmach - looked identical to the original but seemed worse quality and was a tight fit. Once fitted I couldn't get the airbox lid to go on properly and seal - one screw particularly - the one at the back...
