    1997 Defender 90 Earthing points

I found this when I was searching for mine: Earth points on 90/110 prior to Td5 are behind each of the front lights attached to the vertical panel of the inner wing -- may need to remove front lights to gain access or employ a electrically trained Octopus with very bendy arms. on...

    Strange ignition issue!!

I had a similar issue that turned out to be shorting of wires and a dodgy earth connection. Check wiring where it is vulnerable I.e where it enters and exits the chassis and where it comes up behind the engine block as it can rub here. It would also be worth cleaning and checking all the earth...

    Popping sound :-(

Cheers for that, no obvious sign of any puffs of smoke from manifold area but will also check at the back of the block. I have just put the old air filter back in and the noise has gone almost completely  put the new one back in and same noise again! Is one model / brand of air...

    Popping sound :-(

Landy issue I have just done a service and replaced the oil, oil filter, air filter and fuel filter. All that might not be relevant but on starting her up all seemed fine except that I can hear a knocking / popping sound from the air intake. I've done some searching head gasket or...

    Radius arm help

I have started replacing all the bushes on the 110 and thought I'd start with the front radius arms. I've got the first one off ok and have replacement ones to put on with bushes all fitted and ready to go. I've just used Krust on the bracket area on the front axle whilst the radius arm is...

Too long on an axle stand....?

Cheers for the links Landowner, looking at those the garage has put the wrong springs on the passenger front and drivers rear sides! They've just put the same springs on the front, both Red/Blue and same on the back Red/Green. I'm gonna drop it back and get them to change it.

Too long on an axle stand....?

I don't think it has bent the axle I was wandering whether or not the week or so on the axle stand had compressed the spring to the point it was permanently compressed more than the other side. Sorry if my first ramble wasn't clear Cheers

Too long on an axle stand....?

Sorry.... Just to correct myself, I've just had a look at the springs that have been fitted and I have RED and GREEN marked springs on the rear, both drivers and passenger sides. The springs on the front are RED and BLUE, both drivers and passengers. Is this the right setup for standard?

Too long on an axle stand....?

Cheers for quick replies..... The spring has a red mark on the drivers side. I done a search but got a bit confused as to the coding. It is a 300tdi defender 110 CSW.

Too long on an axle stand....?

I put my defender on one axle stand, drivers side front, to change the wheel bearings. It was placed supporting the axle under the front drivers side spring. As it turned out it ended up staying like this for about a week before I got around to changing the bearing. Now it's sorted and back...

    Back on the road..

Well I got a pass today so decided to sort the bearings out on the 110. I'd started them a couple of weeks ago but broke a brake pipe getting the calliper off so its been on axel stands while i sorted out spares etc. I've done a fair bit of tarting up the inside with soundproofing, seating...

    Steering guard help

I just bought one of these from paddocks. Galv steel, fitted in 30 minutes and then took it out and ended up giving a real world test the next week. Really pleased. Seems very solid and heavy with the advantage of the built in recovery points. Here Cheers

    Bike Rack

I bought on of the MaxxRaxx 4x4 carriers. Fits on the tow ball and can take up to 5 bikes. It works really well and fits with a spare wheel on the back door. Linky Simon
