So after recently buying my td5 and joining your forum I see there are many faults with the disco's, electrics being the main from what I've seen, and rust on the earlier ones. Instead of all the threads about what's wrong with them, why not have one listing the good things? What's good...

The relay for the front screen is under the bonnet. If you take the cover off of the fuse box under there and get someone to press the button on and off while you listen you should hear it. It's relay R8 I think the third one up on the right side, a black one. Then there are 2 fuses in there...

I think I solved the spot light issue today, I had to remove the dash to change a bulb and just ensured all connections were nice and firm when I put it back together. Since then the spots have worked fine, I have a separate switch on the dash for them and they only work with main beam. Also...

I must admit i didnt think id really get anywhere with it all but all sorted in the same day, cant really complain.

Hi mate Used marina motors on Pudsey road, was the closest one when the brakes went, and I've used them before for other vehicles. They've always been good, not the cheapest though.

New brake lines fitted on both sides, front to back, and paid for by the tester, result.

Its the brake pipes front to back which are severely corroded and split. The garage advised me to call the MOT station and inform them of the problem, saying that if for any reason they had missed anything like this on an MOT they would pay to have the work completed and rectify the problem...

And if the vehicle passed when the condition of the components were not fit for purpose, and this was glaringly obvious what then?

Correct, and then it would be put back onto the previous owner to repair the fault, or at least i would have been aware of the issue before buying. Im probably getting ahead of myself anyway, will wait and see what the garage says and hopefully no foul play. Yes i should have had the...
