interior rool bar for overlanding. Yay or nay?

Just found this if it helps: "This Defender above from South Africa slid on spilled diesel, went off the road and turned over several times. The 2 occupants escaped with some cuts and a few broken bones. But look at the upper structure of the body. All the roof crumpled down and had to be cut...

Yummy new tyres on my disc

Cheers for that, just had a quote on the general grabbers. As you say 5 for the price of 4 BFGs with enough change to cover my beer money. :D

Yummy new tyres on my disc

I was just kidding, I visit Wales a lot. It has it's pro and cons just like anywhere else, got to hand it to the welsh though, they're good at doing scenery. :) So Battenberg, how do the General Grabbers compare to the BFGs mileage wise? I've heard people talking about getting 80,000 miles out...

Yummy new tyres on my disc

Bloody 'ell! Looks like it's going to pay to shop around. The local BFG stockist just quoted £141 each for KO's. Said he'd knock 10% if I bought 5. Trax's £99 price is looking a bit good at the mo. Pity I don't live in Wales. (Never thought I'd say that! ) :behindsofa:

Yummy new tyres on my disc

Oh aye, they look the part. Your disco's even the same colour as mine. :)

Yummy new tyres on my disc

Well I'd like to see what they look like on a Disco before shelling out all that cash. There you are, a direct request for a photo. What more excuse do you need?:D

Yummy new tyres on my disc

Just got a quote from them, they want an extra £40 on your price to come to me. That's living in the sticks for you! So anybody know what the difference is between a 104S All Terrain WW tyre (as sold by event tyres) and the all terrain KO?

Yummy new tyres on my disc

So Trax, where did you go for your BFGs? I've just started thinking about investing in some but haven't got as far as working out the best way to get them....

    300tdi - serpentine belt

Are you sure it's a bearing making the noise and not the belt itself? If it's the belt then the penny trick might sort it. Did on mine...

    Help im abroad and stuck

You mean something like..... “yes dost done mine, not reset required” Translation: I have just replaced the aforementioned component on my vehicle. Access to a computerized fault diagnosis tool is not required in order to extinguish the warning indicators. ”it it an...

    Discovery Anti Roll Bar Problem?

Funily enough that's where I got mine from. You mustn't be all that far away....

    Discovery Anti Roll Bar Problem?

You just need unbolt the broken linkage from the end of the anti roll bar, unbolt the ball that's still on the axle then fit a new linkage. Dead easy, about 10 minutes and the new part should be a few quid. (Can't remember how much exactly from when I swapped mine but it wasn't a great deal)

    cb radio

Optimus, you could go for a ham radio licence. There's more activity on the ham bands and you can use the repeater network to extend your range when on the move.... that and half the people on here seem to have licences lately. There'll have to be a ham radio section on here at this rate! :D...

SRS and Offroading - do they go together?

I'd have thought if you stuffed it into a ditch hard enough to set off the airbags then you'd probably be glad they did their job. :)

    VIN Plate

You can't legally swap a Vin plate to a new shell. Not that seems to be a problem for a lot of people who have "tax exempt" cars.

    Cab Heater

I was having trouble with my 300Tdi not getting warm. I swapped the thermostat, no effect. Took the Fan and viscous coupling off, that sorted it. A couple of miles from cold and it's pretty much up to temperature now rather than still stone cold. Once it's up to temperature it stays rock solid...

Door Lock Barrel Cam Disco 1 1994

Was that scrappy down a side road where there's half a dozen yards all in the same place? I've not been up that way in years so I don't know if they are still there, used to have hours of fun in that place when I where a lad! :)

    Double Flashing Indicators

When you say, "I have checked all the bulbs and they are correct", do you mean they all work? Flashing fast usually means you've got a bulb out. Connecting a trailer/caravan would increase the load on the circuit and make it flash at the right rate. (I think)

    Discovery clutch life

There is always that, it's not something I'm losing sleep over. Just thinking about it as something to go on the preventative maintenance list. Which probably means I'll not get around to it anyway! :)
