HELP !!!!!!Radio interference with my immobiliser

Sorry, but that's not necessarily true. Yes the frequency they transmit on is quite high but if the signal strength is high enough it will overload any receiver that is close by, even if that receiver is designed to pick up a much lower frequency.

    Winch Bumper idea

If you start seriously modding your Freelander, you'll trash it's resale value. Offroad prepped vehicles sell for less than standard clean ones do as a rule. The guy in the video has obviously spent a small fortune creating a car that can cope with a bit of mud and puddles. How about buying a...

    Recommendations for Road tyres

Mine had Hankook 235/70R16 road tyres on it when I bought it. I did 10k miles on those before swapping to Grabber AT2s. I can't comment on other types but I had no compliants about the Hankooks. Wear rate was fine, grip was fine, only swapped them because I wanted to play.

    noise from rear on drive

Thinking about it, it tends to be the radius arm bushes that make it wander around on braking. When you're next under it, take a look at the bushes on the "A" frame. They might be letting the acle move from side to side.

    More holes

Perfectly normal that. I once started with the intention of welding a patch over a wee hole in the rear wheel arch and finally finished when I got to the headlight! :)

MOT Points of Interest and differences

So if the recieved wisdom is that the floor panel is structural because of the seat belt mountings, where did the idea that it didn't matter come from? It seems like a lot of peeps have been saying the opposite for quite a while, (not that that makes them right of course).

    TD5 or TDI ?

The Tdi is easier to work on if you're doing your own maintenance and won't give you all the electronic headaches that the TD5 will. It'll be an older vehicle so rust becomes an issue. As far as I know there's not all that much in it performance/MPG wise... ".... make your choice and accept...

Fitting a steering guard is dead easy..... Er, sometimes!

Thanks guys, I'll have a go at the heat it up and chuck water at it method first chance I get. I'll let you know how I get on.

Fitting a steering guard is dead easy..... Er, sometimes!

Now you'd think that fitting a steering guard on a '98 TDi wouldn't be too taxing wouldn't you? It's only 4 bolts FFS. The bumper mount bolts came out a doddle, then I hit a snag. The back end of the guard mounts onto the center bolt that goes through the chassis member that the panhard rod...

    Bits for disco?

It was a classic range rover that I was working on at the time but the Disco is very much the same. The sensors are only held in place by a rubber bush. You can get them out by gently prising them with a suitable lever. Make sure you clean around them first though, you don't want any muck...

    Bits for disco?

Shooting pooftas, is that legal now? I thought they banned hunting. :D Last time I had an intermittant ABS fault I just took the wheel sensors out, wiped 'em with a rag and put them back. After clearing the ECU fault codes it worked a treat. (The ECU was complaining about low signals from...
