    Core plug behind water pump.

I'm going to change the P-gasket behind the water pump next week and thought I may as well do the core plug next to it at the same time, but for the life of me cannot find any reference to it's size. So does anyone know what size said plug is? The engine is a 300Tdi.

Cuts out all of a sudden???

An easy way to check if the solenoid is working is to remove the connector that goes into the top of it (Assuming it isn't a later model with the security cap on) then turn the ignition on and put the connector back on. The solenoid should make an audible click as it gets power. A sticky...

2" Suspension Lift - Cost to fit in a garage

Seriously mate, as overwhelming as it might seem, changing the suspension isn't that difficult. I did exactly the same as you and I'm little more than an enthusiastic amateur. It took about 3 days in total, but that included all the headscratching and a trip to buy a new rear shock mount. A...

    Poor Starting Not Starting

I'm afraid I know nothing about TD5s but mine is a 300tdi and it did exactly the same thing. Pulled into Asda car park, did my shopping, came back out and nothing. Just spun and spun without firing until I flattened the battery. It turned out to be the fuel shut off solenoid (It stops the fuel...

    Discovery UJ Replacement

I would second that. 129Nm isn't that much. If the spring inside your torque wrench has got rusty it can F*** it up. I learned this the hard way after shearing the head off a bolt.

Running on after fitting new fuel stop solenoid.

The Disco decided it didn't want to start last week, turning over but not firing. A bit of trial and error revealed the fuel shut off solenoid wasn't working. Fast forward a week and I've fitted a new one (How much of an f'ing bind is that?) Starts up no problem but runs on when the ignition...

    spotlights connection

You could take a feed from the fog lights and use it to trigger a relay. But I would agree with AWP, it would be better to use main beam to trigger the relay instead. I circumcised my bumper to increase the approach angle and used the foglight switch to switch on a pair of 8" 100 watt driving...

    Swivel pin/ball seal replacement??

Take the last 8 letters and digits from your VIN and that's the bit you need when ordering parts, in your case MA106037. The J means the part is suitable for 1992 vehicles onward. For a full breakdown of what your VIN means have a look here :-Click me!

    Previous owner convo?

They look like normal alloy wheel nuts. Having said that however, locking wheel nuts originally came with little covers to go over them so that they match the rest of the set. Best bet is just to try and crack them all off while the wheel is on the ground and see how you get on.

Before i set off off road.....

It's not a straight swap, the 300 tdi has a 3 bolt flange on the diff and the 200tdi has a 4 bolts. As mentioned above Gwyn Lewis do a kit:- Click me! This is what I used, no messing about with spacers, it's all built in. It also comes with a new oil seal. It's also a good idea to fit new UJs...

I fitted a Terrafirma 2" lift kit to mine and they were definitely handed on the front. The springs were clearly marked "front drivers side" and "front passenger side". The rears weren't though.

Just had a look at the issue of LRM where they did a group test. The winner was the Automec AFT100 Click me!. But as you say you can buy a lot of pipe for that kind of money. The best budget buy was the Frost M250 which Landowner recommended above.

    MOT coming up.... Worried!

Not a lot of use then! My advice then would be to check the easy stuff like lights, wipers and brake pads, then get underneath and look for holes in the exhaust and fluid leaks from joints, pipes and seals. Beyond that you're only going to be second guessing the tester and there's no point...
