Job done!
Ball joints changed and rear drag link changed as one one of the joints was worn.
Bingo! The steering is now spot on and no judder over the bumps!
Ball joints done! What a ball ache!
Took an Enerpac, a 25ton pancake jack and a frame used for our bearing puller at work but they flew out once I got everything set up!
Got some odd looks from the neighbors though!
I even needed the enerpac to push out the ABS sensor as it was totally welded...
True, I'll just always have the niggle in the back of my head the seals going to fail!
But to be honest the hub came off easier then expected with the proper tools so no great loss if it goes again!
Thanks Wammers, I'll drop him a PM and see what I can sort out. Good old landrover, £900 of tool to save £5 of seal!
Alway forget to say nice plane by the way. Not sure I'd have the guts to fly something I built by hand... I can barely bring myself to trust lying on a bed I built...
Right guys, half way through changing the ball joints on the rangie and have been reading Rave on aligning the hub to prevent the oil seal failing. The diagrams aren't very clear and don't show a great deal of the tool used.
My original plan was to refit the axle with a new seal and measure the...

Well, made a little progress today.
Despite getting called out with my work I managed to get the Fuel pressure reg changed over. took it for a drive and the pinking is greatly improved! I'm guessing that its either adapting to the new MAF or the pressure reg has helped.
Thankfully my mate is...
Mines bang on 75k as well! Could be worth looking into to be honest. I'll have to break the timing light out and see if there are any old fashioned marks for me to check!
Well, the secondhand MAF arrived and its already fitted but not a squat of difference to the pinking :(
Would I be right in guessing I'll need to get the adaptive values reset with a change of MAF or should I see the results straight away?
Can't remember where I read it but if you pull that hose off and blow down it to make sure there's no coolant sitting in there it bleeds perfect every time.
No idea why but if I don't blow that coolant through it just sits there and airlocks the top of the rad.
Strange but true!
I'm certainly under no impression that K seal with fix this thing forever but its surprised me how well it worked to be honest. When funds allow I plan to strip down the engine to see whats what but its kept me mobile for now.
Well I think I may have found a culprit, rangie failed its MOT on ball joints on passengers side. have been searching on here for a how too, think I have the gear to get the things out but not sure how to align the thing afterwards... not looking forward to this!
Got to say I'm guilty!
Bottle of Kseal in mine as it was losing coolant but not overheating, suspected the dreaded block but thought what the heck, what have I got to lose? It was either £10 then a new block if it didn't work or a new block anyway!... been going great guns now ever since!
