OK OK the landrover 300tdi 1997 :D found out it is the uj's on the front prop just had them greased and thats made the world of difference ... so ... all is better , i think its in need of a good service as i havent done one this year :doh: how much are new oj's for the front prop ? would BMS...

Right , a update on the jeep . After driving around trying to listen where this bloody noise is coming from i have found that the clunking / grinding is always there no matter if its in drive or not :mad: If I am in neutral rolling along the noise is there and if im in drive its less noticable...

I had the same problem , the rev counter would bounce up and down though but sometimes it would stop altogether . the problem lead to be the alternator was goosed so when that was replaced all was good again ! :)

Hi all recently done a motorway trip in the 300tdi , in 5th gear coasting all is well , however when i put a tiny ( and i mean tiny ) touch of throttle on a grinding noise appears from what sounds like the gearbox . When i put more throttle on (still only a touch ) the noise dissappears...

Im going to change the fuel filter tomorrow on the landy as I have been told that I am getting 'searching' whilst i back off the power due to the filter being too dirty . Do i have to do anything prior to removing the filter or do i remove it and put the old one back on ?
