    Making the leap. P38 - l322

P38s are getting pretty old now - but - if you've got a good one I reckon it'll outlast any L322. "better" or "worse" are very judgemental words - L322s are much more car like to drive, they handle, steer and brake better - but IMHO aren't as comfortable. The interior looks nicer than the P38...

    RRC prices

Classic prices have been high for quite a few years now - the fact they rot like Alfasuds probably helps as they are becoming rare.

Cool - as you read it I've removed my original post!

    SO….. why do you…??

If you don't get it finished in time Ash you're welcome to borrow my backup hack a Honda CR-V, it's sitting taxed, mot'd, insured and unloved in a field in Stansted Abbots.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Are your tyres AT2s or ATs (the "2s" came first!) I Had GG AT2 on my Classic IMHO the (current) ATs are even better - particularly in the snow. Astonishingly good all-rounder.

    P38 4.6 vs L322 4.2 SC

Anyone who pays more than £4K for a P38 wants their brains dusted. Even for a low mileage minter - condition and maintenance is more important than mileage with P38s anyway. The two cars couldn't be more different the only similarity is they have Range Rover on the bonnet.

Hit a deer - cracking the NS headlight.

Best tool to remove ABS accumulator

I used a chain filter wrench.

    Warming up

Camshaft wear is at it's highest at idle - best to fast idle or drive as soon as you can - or get a coolant or block warmer!

    P38s in the snow

2000 Thor (4 wheel TC) + general grabber ATs - I found it to be absolutely unstoppable and sure-footed - tried my best to get stuck in fairly deep snow on silly gradients - it simply coped with no drama.

knew it would happen just hoped not yet, gearbox ill

Are you a trader? No - then there's no such thing as a trade sale - either it was sold for spares or repair (clearly documented) or it has to be fit for purpose. (working as designed) Deny all knowledge of the "flutter" conversation and take him to the small claims court - if he is a dealer...

    Strange clutch-slipping type behaviour

Which is a stupid bit of slang coz when you're stationary, in gear with the engine running and the clutch dipped the "spinner" is the only bit not spinning! :D

Oil Pump.....Do they need to bed in??

I've replaced main and big-end shells (in situ) in tired Rover V8s before and managed to get another 40K miles out of the engine before the point where the crank needs a regrind - older Rover V8s had bugger-all oil pressure to begin with so worn shells were usually the first job when the oil...

    Tyre fitment

Because they have locks on so many channels (satellites) they can accurately calculate position in 3D terms (including altitude) using that as part of the calculation.

Sounds like they are trying to spline, er, I mean, shaft you.

Rear wheel tc vs 4 wheel tc

Don't hear a peep out of mine unless offroad or it's snowing. Can plant foot flat in the wet - no TC - nor would I expect there to be any (not enough power to wheelspin!)
