I assume you have checked the fan belt tension, sounds daft but it is worth a try. If you have a plug in the top of radiator try taking that out and after drawing off water down to the tubes see if they are clear, the radiator blocking is the most common cause of heating up on the motorway...

As so far mentioned the hub spanner ect and a splined socket to undo the disc from the hub. The splined socket must be a tight fit on the hub/disc bolts, I know someone mentioned 17mm but I thought it was a smaller perhaps 14/15? Either way make sure you have a good purchase before you try...
