two different opinions  feck it i'll get a lucas one when i get paid :D It managed a days lanin today and ran okay, still missed a bit but not as bad as before. The idle is still playing funny buggers though, fine 99% of the time then just drops out and wont run in gear due to idling...

    mystery mid rpm misfire

Good idea, i have used him a few times, nice fella. I haven't been up there for a while but last time i was up me local scrappy they had 2 ranges and a disco 1 v8 ;) I cut the whole boot floor and inner rear wings outa one of em, cost me £20 :D

    mystery mid rpm misfire

Yeh i'll have to change it, just seems bloody expensive :( i was half tempted to go round the scrappy with a multi meter :) the only other thing i was considering, as a tempory bodge like was to disconnect it and run a resistor inline to a mid resistance figure and see if i can get away with...

    mystery mid rpm misfire

cheers kev :) i looked up thermistor via part number on the usual websites, lr series, craddocks etc all around £80+vat... i did find one for £56+vat from famous four, still seems bloody expensive for a thermo switch  I'll order one and the alternator bits soon as i get paid, think i'l...

    mystery mid rpm misfire

I may have found the prob  I haven't finished checking all the ignition bits yet kev, i can't find reference to the ig amp and air flow meter checks in the haynes, is it in there somewhere? But i did the ecu checks, everything was spot on, both left and right injector resistances were...

If your lights is playing up it could well be your alternator on it's way, check what your alternator is putting out, both with all electric load off then again with everything turned on, see previous posts here for what volts you are looking for.. Looks like my timing was a bit out, well...

max tyre size on a standard range rover classic

Dunno, aren't 110 steelies narrower than rr wheels? Besides unless your classic has raised ride height you'll probably find they'll catch the wheelarches and rear mudflaps as they go up due to the taller sidewalls. I tried that size tyre on mine and they fouled when articulated so i stuck with...

I'll let you know what happens, i'd only ever get lucas bits, tuthers are ****e.. I guess it's not worth chancing a second hand alternator then? to be fair i think the one in there is original and done 150k :-)

    mystery mid rpm misfire

i did check the dizzy cap, it's only done about 3k anyhow but was fine, pins were all clean. Do you see what i mean about the rotor  I just went out and checked the alternator output again, it's putting out 13v from cold on fast idle. looks like the battery is pooped. I bought...

Thanks again Kev I checked all the wiring, is all good, alternator output was about 13.2v, down to 12.8 fully loaded. I haven't started on the efi sensors yet as i don't want to break owt before the weekend :o I haven't checked the timing yet, my strobe's in me workshop miles away. But i...

Ok, i'll say it first...... good luck, but whichever model you go for make sure you hold onto the doors tight if it gets anywhere near water :p

    mystery mid rpm misfire

Had a bit of a poke about today but to be honest i didn't want to get too envolved as i'll be buggered if i break it while the roads are crap :) Checked the vac advance again, if i suck with all my might the arm onto the base plate moves about 3mm and to me the base plate feels very stiffly...
