I had this on mine the other week, took it to LR, hooked up the computer and was apparently a loose connector for the rear axle ride height sensor (i think) they reconnected it and all is well, took 10 mins.

I had the same 'M' and 'S' gearbox lights illuminate too once after filling up with fuel, when put in drive it felt like a manual when the clutch is slipping, ie revs but very very slow to move off etc...limped it home and took it to an independent whi when they came round to it that afternoon...

the 300tdi is a LR 4 pot whereas the DSE engine is a 6-cyl BMW unit

spot on slob mate - oil is coming from the box coolant pipe and mixing with the a/c water, guess the a/c is just cos its bloomin hot!

hmm went out again today and saw the water/oily crap seen before had coated the back window again - only used a/c for about 2 mins, but once off it kept coming out and up the back window, underside is completely coated :confused:

Thank god for LZ! Had same problem today on the M4 though, was going along and slowly the back window got all greasy and oily, when i stopped the underneath and back was drenched with what i thought was auto box oil, but luckily oil level is fine and looks to be coming out of the air con pipe...

Got an '03 DII, not bad, quiet, comfy etc Just in the last 6 months been playing up a little bit, new turbo, light bulbs blowing all over the shop, TC ABS lights on dash crop up sometimes, put itself in safe mode for no reason for gearbox fault which LR comp couldn't pick up and has cropped up...

Just got back from a 5 min trip, turned it off and then had to move it 5 mins later, and she wouldn't start, shed loads of battery life still in her. She's always started fine, about the only thing it's been good at recently - jsut wondering what it could be, never had trouble with it starting...
