Well, I had an intermittent squeak that rapidly developed into a full blown 'all the time' squeak. It turned out to be the tensioner pulley bearing. I had it replaced, along with the belt, and that cured the problem. In addition, I also had the battery light coming on (and tacho not working)...

Aha! It WAS the little panel on the l/h side! :o I had to rip it off as the attachment lugs wouldn't give, so I guess I need a new panel, as the lugs are an integral part of the panel. I tell you, its bliss now to drive! That noise (even if it wasn't occuring all the time) was driving me...

I agree with Discomania, although check the connection first and recrimp if it is a little loose, plus dip the loose connection in electrical lube. This should be the first option, as it is the cheapest (if the alternator has no rear shield that is!). You haven't got a squealing noise coming...

Yep, it does it with someone in it or no. RE the hammer treatment, I can't really see anywhere I can hit it, as its all covered in cloth. The same goes for things I can tighten up, I can't really see anyhting, without removing the stitching of the seat upholstery!

Couldn't see any posts on this, so thought I'd add mine. It was done by Matt4x4 near Reading, and he did a great job. The parts only cost £38, and Matt only charged an hours labour. If you are going to attempt this, then you might want to consider applying a bit of vaseline under the repair...

When I was looking at buying a Disco, I was torn between a Tdi and an LPG V8. The Tdi won out, ONLY because I couldn't find an LPG conversion with less than 100,000 miles on it, and as I had been warned of problems with LPG's with over 100,000 miles on the clock, I left them out of the equation...

I'm now thinking that it might be illegal to fit a white kit on the back end. Is that why you never see them?
