Morning all, in the past few days I have noticed my temp gauge needle randomly jumping around. Most of the time it is stable at the half way point but every now and then it will jump up for a second before returning to normal. Occasionally it jumps right to the top of the range and when this...
It had the 3" lift when I bought it!
Is it a good idea to replace half shafts/CVs at the same time as the tyres or will it be ok for a wee while if I take it easy? I don't really have that sort of money just lying around!
Would 285/75/r16 (33") be a more sensible option if I don't want to...
16" rims, 9.5" wide, no idea about the offset, any way I can measure it?. See my avatar for what the wheels look like.
300bhp/ton - clearly I'm over compensating for something!
Marmaduke - I'm going to tell my missus you called her fat!
Hi Guys,
I've found a set of tyres in the above size, which by my dodgy maths equates to roughly 35" for a good price.
I have a 3" lift so clearance shouldn't be an issue, as it's a defender I expect road noise, and I know it will throw the speedo off a bit, question is, will they give me any...
EGR valve is blanked, so not an issue. And I live in NZ, so there is no red diesel!
The jury seems to be out on this, some say no outright, others say yes with the addition of some form of lube.
I might trial a 50/50 mix of avtur and diesel, see how she runs.
I have a fairly reliable and endless supply of Avtur available to me, my question is can I run a Td5 Defender on this? Would I have to add anything to it? Is there a risk of damage to the engine?
Cheers.
Not being funny guys, but there's a reason for fuses and relays, please don't bypass them or link directly to the battery, you're really asking for trouble.
I'm an aircraft engineer, and have seen fires and downed aircraft caused by dodgy electrics, just not worth it!
Hi mate, not sure if it's an exact science, but mine has 10 full threads exposed, but has been wound in a couple of turns to increase boost, which went along with a remap.
Mole grips as a steering wheel on an old astra.
Beer to top up the coolant in my Dad's old sunny.
Throttle cable on a minibus snapped 10 miles into a 450 mile journey, so para-cord from the linkage, through the drivers window as a hand throttle, horrible journey.
Hi guys, I'm currently away from home so don't have access to the workshop manual, and struggling to find the info in the forum.
All I'm after is the minimum recommended thickness for discs and pads, front and rear on a 2003 Td5 110.
Cheers in advance.
Hey lightning, It's on 118,000km, so about 75,000 miles.
I do a bit of towing, off roading, and it's a heavy old beast with the roll cage etc, so would it be worth upgrading to a heavy duty clutch and flywheel?
