Cant find the timing pin. help needed

Right got it. Thanks. just looking on paddocks they do a head bolt set for £32. Seems a bit steep. Are they anything special or could I just go to the local bolt place I know?

Cant find the timing pin. help needed

Cool Quick question. When I looked at taking the head of before I couldn't work out which gasket I needed. Different thicknesses

Cant find the timing pin. help needed

I could pinch a compressor from work but it sounds like I would need a leakage gauge?? Perhaps I need to up the cake to beers on the herts lanes

Cant find the timing pin. help needed

Presumably a compression test will say for sure. Do you think there is anything left it could be that wouldn't require a strip down? I have now got access to a lock up where I could start taking bits off but dont want to do it blind without knowing what I'm doing

Cant find the timing pin. help needed

Right an update after a bit of investigating. 1. There is no signs of any water in the oil under the rocker cover. There is however oil in the hose that goes from the plastic cylinder pot thing on the side of the rocker cover (I forget it's name or purpose) to the bottom of the airbox. Even...

Push rods were bent so I replaced them all. But not the valves

Cant find the timing pin. help needed

That also sounds like a good plan. I should ha e taken the head off when the cam belt went. All the valves looked to move well and the tops sat all at the same level but I guess that a dodgy valve could be it, Atleast the start of it

Cant find the timing pin. help needed

It had crossed my mind. As far as I could tell the only difference after the cam belt was a little low on power but only just noticable and a bit smokier. I did take the rad off, but took my time putting it all back together torqued everything I could. There is no oil anywhere on the rad or...

As you suggested spray looks like it's come out the filler and dipstick. Far more on the right side of the engine as you look at it. Also there is a very clean patch where I assume the oil has cleaned off all the old grime. This is just below the filler. althought this might be wishful thinking...

There was no oil on the dipstick but I have topped it up now. Didn't think to smell it. Peering through the filler cap no signs of water, but I will check that tomorrow. The water is still full to the brim

Have you told you insurance company about your modifications?

I put on non standard engine. Luckily they don't ask for any more info as I have non.

Have you told you insurance company about your modifications?

With the 110 the way it is, its not going to be on the road anytime soon. I've just done a quote from Adrian flux. We''ll see what they say when they reply.

Have you told you insurance company about your modifications?

So here''s one for you. a few months ago I brought my defender because it had no mods and and was cheap on insurance. (hi capacity 110 were twice as much WTF?) being 23 insurance is a big issue. It wasn't until changing the timing belt I was told through lz it had a disco 200tdi engine instead...

Understood. Sorry. This is all new to me. Atm I just need to decide wether this is something beyong my ability to fix. Admittedly it may appear to be the case

I haven't. If it has come out the filler its unlikely to come out again just starting up, right? Don't fancy shooting another load all over the floor. I don't have a compression checker. Would it be something people are likely to have or would I need to go to a garage? Do you think a shout out...
