Sorted the brakes at the wekend, new calipers, discs, pads and bearings on the rear. Now drives like a dream, I can't believe it passed the MOT like it, I don't think the brakes have ever been that good since I have owned it! Might be time to check the fronts properly if the rears have made...

The disc is now badly scored and the other side is part rusty and part worn so I need to change that, in terms of the caliper, I would be suprised if the wear I have is just normal, I think it is far more likely that the calipers have had it.

They are the same age but definatly wearing unevenly as the offside is wearing more evenly

I just looked today, looks like it is the near side caliper is nackered as the inner pad has worn and is scoring the disc but the outer is nearly new. I am going to get a new caliper for that side and discs and pads.

I thought you could because they were all being made of a softer foam rather than metal nowadays

Noticed today that ocasionaly my brakes sound like they are grinding, checked the pads and there is plenty left all round. Any ideas what may be happening? They also pull to one side but I think this is because I need to do the bearings.

Could it be a knackered batery?

I have had a shock shear off before, the advice is correct about the WD40 on the bolts and also about the Armstrong shocks I put a pair on my rear but want to change them as they feel rubish.

I don't know why this has got so complicated! It will have diff lock and is stuck Mine glides backwards and forwards with the gentle push of a finger, no problem. Others have had the same problem with it getting stuck through lack of use.

I think the MOT men jut don't like holes that are not meant to be there! I did find one on mine after it had been through the MOT that was not in the list on the Chasis part of the body mount

Ooops mis read that one there thought he was on about the rear whele arches! Must read more carefuly in the future!

Buy a welder learn how to do it and do a proper job on it, once you have done all the bits on you list there won't be many more to do. Mad is correct, inner wings are an MOT failer as they are within the 30cm of a seat belt mounting.

If you do decide it is the head gasket, I did mine and fund it an ok job, just folow something like the Haynes for guidance. Very pleasing on completion when you have done such a job and she runs again!
