Sorry for not following the thread anymore...hope it is not too late:
The mg/str I have set is about 6, engine warm and at tickover. But you can play around with it to get the smoothest running engine, I think. My timing modulation is rather high at 80%, unfortunately, and I could not get it...
It was the turn of the top seal (second from top, actually) in my fuel injection pump to leak. There is plenty of great links on how to do it, including the VW TDIclub forum and youtube video series. I got the full seal set from ebay, and only used the two odd-shaped ones.
After putting...
Could be that the ECU is not registering boost pressure properly. Look for the loose vacuum line from the bottom of the inlet manifold to the boost pressure sensor on top of the fuel filter housing. Well, just a guess...
There is a fuse, perhaps number 11, that you should plug when readying the car for towing (see owner manual for more specific and accurate details). This I think, puts the transfer in neutral for towing purposes. Could this be related to you problem?
I am pretty sure it came from my disintegrated seal. Same color, dull-blackish, was not there the first time I opened the compressor to replace the seal. And, the seal had indeed disintegrated, and it is dull-black in color...
Push on each corner as hard as you can and let go. If it oscillates more than once - time for new shocks. For reference- do the same on a brand new car. Actually a safety issue on uneven roads.
Same here! Unbelievable! After only two weeks. And the compressor was filled with sooth like powder that I believe was disintegrated seal material. I was too lazy to demand my money back and invented ways to blame myself, buy I will now.
Yes, thank you all for your responses that were spot on! I sprayed the bags on a number of occasions but always on high profile as it was easier to crawl under the car. Big mistake. Now, 4 new gen-II are on their way. With my 4 new Bilsteins I should be good for years...
If I leave the car (p38 1996 DSE) in normal height, and walk away, it drops within minutes (literally, minutes). If, on the other hand, I leave it on high profile and walk, it will stay there for days without sagging. Valve block rebuilt. Any ideas?
First thing I would do is replace the top turbo hose, going from the intercooler to the inlet manifold. It gets soft, Especially when warm, and if your turbo is not new anymore the suction from the cylinders may come a tad bit earlier than the boost, causing the hose to collapse and choke the...
if the engine is off, door open and it drops fast you have a leak. If you cant find it it is internal to the valve block, most likely the valve controlling that corner leaks.
Very possibly you have an internal leak at the valve block, if you have not found any leaks at the airbag or the inlet to the valve block. It's possible for the valves themselves to leak out and it's not easy to detect because the valves are under their cover. You can not leak test it, but by...
Learn how to use the eka code. It's easy and got me out of trouble in a number of occasions. Your wife should learn this too, this way your new baby will come out ready for the twisted ways of the range rover.
If you play with the driver door lock in a random way like you seem to be doing, the...
Thank you all for the advice. I followed the majority rule and assumed it's the sensors. Swapped left for right with no difference. Next is the driver pack? Incidentally, the car goes to extended rather than high profile: top light flashing after settling down.
