Hi all looked at a Discovery TDi yesterday and all looks good apart from a pretty bad leak from the front Diff. also seems to be a lot of fluid on the axle and generally wet around the front end of the underside of the vehicle
What could it be? Is it loads of money ? also is it hard to do?
Or...
Hi and welcome..do a search for HGF and VCU problems on the Freelander and that will give you the main areas to look out for.

Well if the vehicle is cheap, enough...it would be worth a couple of extra quid for the warranty...if they want 600 offer them 200 and i bet they will go for it to secure the deal. Make sure it covers all the drive train...some of the buy after warranties arent worth ****e..cover everything that...
Where are you looking at them..whats the name of the sellers business?
If they are a decent enough place they should not quible about a warranty..if they wont give one it may be a better idea to pay a little bit more from somewhere else and get a warranty with it...you could even look at a Land...
No its generally a far better vehicle...and is a genuine 4x4 the Freelander is pretty capable off road, but if the going gets really tough its outta its league...i like the discovery as its as capable as a defender but with a lot more comfort and is a bit more refined..its got a low ratio...
just do a little research on here about some of the general problems with Freelanders of all ages.....and you will see that a GOOD Warranty is a must.
You may be lucky and get a Peach of a car.......OR..you could be in for some serious expenditure....Quick example if the Vcu Ird,Rear Diff etc...
