No but i wouldnt advise going any wider without wheel spacers otherwise they might scrub. I used to run 235/70 16 compared to 225/55/17 which were standard fitment and they didnt scrub at all, now gone to 205/80 16 as there is a much wider range of tyres available.
KUMHO KL71, just put four on my td4 for £300 all in. Bit of road noise but they are quite aggressive so that wasnt much of a surprise. Very good off road though, they have pulled me through everything ive thrown in front of them so far.
I dont mind the work involved as im a fully trained gold level vehicle technician, i just havent got the spare time i used to have due to the family growing.
I completely understand where your coming from, i would have bought a classic myself if i had the time and money to maintain it properly. I liked the thought of the LSE but they go for so much money in good condition. (any classic does)
