    old rangie

Blimey those arches come out a long way! Looking pretty shiny though! Nice Range Rover Classic. :)

    Rangie V8 serial number??

There may be a casting date on the inlet manifold. Could be two digits with so many dots around the outside. EG 81 with 6 dots around it would indicate it was cast in June 1981. I think, or it might be just a date! I'll go and have a peak at mine in a bit. (Twin strombergs fitted to a 1988...

Main and Big End Bearing Replacement (GEMS V8).....

Blimey with all this work you're doing with the engine still in the engine bay its going to be completely rebuilt soon! Fantastic work though, was it as difficult as you first thought or did you just dive in with the attitude that it needs to be done so you got on with it?

What tyres are on that BB?!?!?! ;)

    Rangie V8 serial number??

If by gutless you mean the 8.13:1 CR and lots of emissions related things, then yes! 15G00001 LandRover Defender 8.13:1 1981-85 If I recall correctly, its mostly air injection into the exhaust ports to reduce the emissions. Someone else may be able to provide more detail than me though.

    Sport header fitting issues

I'm assuming the gearbox cross member is slightly different on a 3.9 Discovery? the y piece on my classic fits above the cross member and meets the downpipes. So I guess you could either try and straighten the pipe or cut if off and weld it to the correct angle.

    1988 Range Rover Classic 3.5L V8 EFi

Not yet, it seems to be quite a stiff fit compared to the steel one, feels slightly wider when closing it. But pulling it up, hitting it and shaking it around it seems to stay closed. I guess we'll find out more when it comes to the part where it drives on the road. But what am I going to do...

    1988 Range Rover Classic 3.5L V8 EFi

Well then, I got the rear calipers fitted today. Turns out some nice previous owner has already been at them and fitted stainless pistons. So I painted the calipers a while back, but fitted them with new pads and retaining clips today. Even got the brake line across the rear axle hooked up. New...

    1988 Range Rover Classic 3.5L V8 EFi

Okay then! Not much today, but did get that nasty rusted steel upper tailgate off and a nice aluminium replacement one fitted. Sorted. :D Had to contend with one rusted bolt, used the dremel to drill a slot and managed to get it out with the impact driver. Being careful not to break the...

    Welders in Bournemouth?

Sounds good, will have to look them up if ever needed. What needs welding specifically? (Rather than 'all the normal places'..) Got any pictures? :)

    RRC ambulance - rough running

Bin the champions and fit NGK BPR6ES. Or so thats what I've been told/read a lot of. Use NGK BPR6ES in my RRC and havent had any problems. Are you getting a nice fat blue spark directly from the coil?

    rrc out of wing exhaust

Would you bring it up on the outside from the underneath or try and do it through the body work and out the scuttle panel? Little difficult on a RRC as under the scuttle panel (the panel under the windscreen) is the bulkhead and footwell. So you'd have an exhaust pipe running up through the...

    3.5 distributor problems

If you pulled the rotor arm up and off without holding the reluctor (assuming its electronic ignition) and the rest of the assembly then you may have pulled the advanced weights out of place. So it won't run at all. If you're careful enough you can take it apart in situ and put it back together...

    Block pathing

I have a Range Rover (albeit the better version, Classic ;)) and a slabbed driveway that was done ~13 years ago. 450mm^2 ~30mm (looking back, should have gotten thicker slabs, and bigger ones at that, the larger 600mm^2 and 50mm at least. Big heavy and don't move very much) slabs layed on...

    Here's the new addition

You mean something like this? I think the images need resizing... As for the holes in the sills it depends where they are, if they're outside a 300mm 'bubble' that surrounds a structural point, body mount etc then it'll pass. There certainly are some cars out there where you...
